<strong>University</strong> key system; and provide general safety for all persons on campus.<br />
Security Buildings are patrolled 24 hours daily. Anyone found in a <strong>UNO</strong> building after established<br />
closing hours, without a university identification card, will be asked to leave.<br />
Safety The Environmental Health & Safety Department is responsible for many campus safety<br />
programs. These programs include such areas as fire safety, environmental safety, emergency<br />
planning, new construction, and radioactive/hazardous materials safety. Campus Security works<br />
with Environmental Health & Safety to provide a safe campus and work environment.<br />
Personal Escorts The Escort service is available for individuals at their request while on campus. Contact<br />
Campus Security to arrange for the escort.<br />
Personal Safety Checks Individuals who may be working alone, outside normal working hours are<br />
encouraged to contact Campus Security. Security Officers will periodically check on your safety<br />
while you are here.<br />
Emergency Message Should your family or friends need to have an emergency message delivered<br />
while you are in class or on campus, have them contact Campus Security. It is a good idea to have<br />
your class schedule posted somewhere at home, this will assist Campus Security in locating you as<br />
quickly as possible. Emergency messages will be delivered in the case <strong>of</strong> a medical emergency or<br />
a matter <strong>of</strong> life or death.<br />
Fingerprints The Campus Security Department provides a fingerprinting service for individuals who<br />
require fingerprints for local, state and federal positions and for children <strong>of</strong> students, staff, faculty<br />
and alumni. It is strictly for the benefit <strong>of</strong> the parents should a child ever be missing; no record will<br />
be maintained by Campus Security. Contact Campus Security for times <strong>of</strong> service or an appointment.<br />
Operation I.D. Your stereo tape-deck, calculator, or other personal belongings may be engraved to<br />
aid in finding lost or stolen property. Stop by the Campus Security Office and check out an engraver<br />
and instructions to engrave your property.<br />
<strong>University</strong> Building Keys Campus Security is responsible for the control <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> key system.<br />
Eligible <strong>University</strong> employees should make requests for <strong>University</strong> keys through their department<br />
chairperson to Campus Security.<br />
Theft or Damaged Property Should you have some items stolen or damaged, report the incident as soon<br />
as possible to Campus Security.<br />
Parking & Traffic All vehicles parked on the <strong>UNO</strong> campus must display a valid parking permit. To obtain<br />
a permit, present your <strong>UNO</strong> identification card or pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> class registration at the Campus Security<br />
Office. The “Parking Rules and Regulations” booklet <strong>of</strong>fers information on the fee schedule, parking<br />
lot designations and general information on traffic and safety. All accidents should be reported to<br />
Campus Security immediately. Shuttle service is provided between the South (Aksarben) Campus<br />
to the North Campus. Free remote parking with shuttle service is available from Crossroads Mall.<br />
Contact Campus Security for a Shuttle schedule and remote parking location.<br />
The Campus Security Department provides assistance to motorists 24 hours daily to jump-start<br />
your vehicle, open a locked vehicle, and change a tire in certain situations for vehicles on campus only.<br />
Blue Light Emergency Phones Use the phone to report emergencies or to contact Campus Security for<br />
