Our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 – domestic energy prices Extra charges, discounts and notes
• Electricity prices are shown in the main body of the table. To find yours, look in the left-hand column and choose
your area. Then look along the top to see which meter applies to you (Standard or Economy 7).
• Gas prices are in the far right of the table. Again, choose your area from the left, and read across.
• If you’re ‘carbon offsetting’ your gas, your extra rates are in the smaller table at the bottom. Please see point B on
page 9 opposite for more information.
• Rates are shown with and without VAT. They’re made up of a daily standing charge and the relevant unit rate
(kWh). We explain the rates in more detail on page 9.
All prices and supporting information are correct at the time of publication (November 2012). These prices will apply
on your account once we have successfully registered you (see rules 2 and 3 of the full tariff rules). For more details, call
us free on 0800 096 9000. We may monitor or record calls to this number as part of our customer-care programme.
0800 calls are free from UK landlines. Other operators may charge different amounts.
Extra charges and discounts
A. There are no cancellation or early-termination fees associated with the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff.
B. If you have chosen the gas carbon offset option, we will add an extra surcharge of 0.153p/kWh (no VAT applies) to
your gas usage. This contribution will pay for a range of renewable energy and resource conservation projects across
the world that are essential to reducing carbon-dioxide emissions. We will do so by using the services of The
CarbonNeutral Company. See rules 9, 10 and 11 of the full tariff rules for more details.
C An electricity customer paying by monthly fixed amount Direct Debit will receive a 6% discount on their electricity
charges which we will take off their electricity bill in line with how often we send bills. We work out this discount
before any other discounts and VAT are applied.
D. A gas customer paying by monthly fixed amount Direct Debit will receive a 6% discount on their gas charges which
we will take off their gas bill in line with how often we send bills. This discount is based on daily standing charges and
unit rates (but not gas carbon offset charges) and is worked out before any other discounts and VAT are applied.
E A dual-fuel customer paying by monthly fixed amount Direct Debit will receive a 6% discount on their energy charges
which we will take off their energy bill in line with how often we send bills. We work out this discount before any other
discounts and VAT are applied. A dual-fuel customer will also receive a dual-fuel discount of £8.40 (£8 before VAT)
each year, no matter what payment method they use. We work this out each day and pay it to the customer’s gas bill
as part of the dual-fuel customer’s bill in line with how often we send bills.
F. An electricity bill saver discount is available to customers supplied by us in the Seeboard, SWEB and London regions
with no mains gas supply and who have an active electricity account. You will receive a discount equivalent to £8.40
(£8 before VAT) each year, which we will pay to your account in line with how often we send bills.
G. If you choose to pay for your electricity/gas by making a fixed periodic Direct Debit payment then your payment
amount will be reviewed from time to time to help ensure it is appropriate to your energy use. While we may review
your payment more frequently in some circumstances, we will only usually review it once a year. This will be the case
even where we receive meter readings or other relevant information more frequently. By choosing to pay in this way
you agree to this.
Notes
• Some of these prices have been rounded. In some instances, more decimals may be shown on your bill. Where prices
are shown ‘including VAT’, the VAT will be charged at 5%.
• The prices shown in this booklet depend upon whether the existing metering at your premises is suitable.
• The prices shown in this booklet are only available for supplying gas and electricity to properties which are
continuously lived in and only or mainly for domestic purposes within the areas listed opposite.
• The dual-fuel and monthly fixed amount Direct Debit discounts only apply to tariffs shown in this leaflet. The dual-fuel
discount depends on you having both a supply of gas and electricity under an EDF Energy domestic supply contract.
• You will not receive the discount for any period where there is no concurrent supply (in other words, if the supply of
one fuel has not begun, or the supply of one fuel ends but the supply of the other fuel continues).
• Where there are any changes to these prices or tariff structures during a billing period, we will amend the charges or
tariff structures to take account of the number of days up to the date the price changes. The new charges will apply
for the rest of the bill period. We may use estimated data in line with Rule 13 of your full tariff rules.
1 Standard meter - This is the most common type of meter for electricity and gas. These meters display your consumption either using a mechanical clock, digital display or dial.
2 Economy-7 meter - Also known as E7, this is a two-rate meter for electricity (day and night - providing a cheaper rate seven hours a night which can provide savings on
your account). These meters are often installed in properties without a gas connection and so the heating and hot water supplies depend on electricity (for example,
storage heaters). Night kWh will be supplied for a total of seven hours between 10pm and 8am (actual times set by the local network operator) and these will be charged
at the night kWh rate. All other kWh will be charged at the day kWh rate. Please contact us if you need to find out your specific off-peak times.
3 The daily standing charges (where shown) are due per day and per meter whether or not you use any electricity or gas at your premises as supplied by EDF Energy.
Important information
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 is available to dual-fuel,
electricity-only and gas-only customers with Standard and
Economy-7 meters.
This tariff is available for a limited time only and we can
withdraw it from sale at any time.
The Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff will come to an
end on 30 June 2014. While you are supplied on this
tariff, you will not receive any further price increases until
at least after 30 June 2014.
There are no cancellation or early-termination fees
associated with the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff.
Price promise - once we start to supply you on the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff, you will receive a
regular update about your product status compared with
the market.
If we find a supplier (including ourselves) has released a
new product which (based on typical yearly consumption,
current prices, and not including cashback, voucher or
other indirect financial benefits or rewards) would result in
an estimated yearly energy bill that was at least £52
(including VAT) less than the equivalent yearly energy bill
based on Blue +Price Promise June 2014 prices (which for
the purposes of the product we would treat as being more
than £1 cheaper a week), we will give you a price-alert
notice no more than 10 days from us receiving published
prices from the relevant supplier.
We will send this notice by email or letter, depending on
your chosen communication method.
You can also access our Blue +Price Promise June 2014
webpage at any time (at edfenergy.com/pricepromisealert)
where you can check our price promise.
If you use one payment method for your electricity and
another payment method for your gas, you currently
won’t be able to make a dual-fuel price comparison.
However, we will be making this service available soon.
If you choose to pay for your electricity/gas by making a
fixed periodic Direct Debit payment then your payment
amount will be reviewed from time to time to help ensure
it is appropriate to your energy use. While we may review
your payment more frequently in some circumstances, we
will only usually review it once a year. This will be the case
even where we receive meter readings or other relevant
information more frequently. By choosing to pay in this
way you agree to this.
12
MyAccount - by signing up to Blue +Price Promise June
2014 and giving us an email address, you agree to place
your account on paperless billing and communications.
You can update this choice at any time by contacting us. If
you do not have access to online services or do not want
to receive paperless correspondence, this tariff is also
available by contacting our Customer Services team free
on 0800 096 9000. We may monitor or record calls to this
number as part of our customer-care programme. 0800
calls are free from UK landlines. Other operators may
charge different amounts.
Low carbon - we will make sure that by the end of a
fuel-mix reporting year, we will have gained an amount of
low-carbon nuclear electricity that at least matches the
total volume of electricity we have estimated has been
supplied to all Blue +Price Promise June 2014 customers in
that period. We will use the same method used to create
our fuel label.
Gas carbon offset option - you can choose to offset the
CO 2 emissions associated with your gas supply on this
tariff. If you take part in the scheme, you will pay an extra
charge of 0.153p/kWh (no VAT applies) extra, applied to
your gas bill. This contribution will be put towards a
range of renewable energy and resource conservation
projects across the world that are essential to reducing
carbon-dioxide emissions. We will do so by using the
services of The CarbonNeutral Company.
End of product - we will tell you at least 30 working days
before the end date of your tariff. You’ll be able to choose
a new tariff from our other available tariffs at that time. If
by 30 June 2014 you haven’t either chosen a new tariff
with us or told us that you will be leaving, we’ll
automatically transfer you to our Standard (Variable) tariff.
By switching to Blue +Price Promise June 2014, you are
agreeing to our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 full tariff
rules, which will apply as well as our energy supply terms
and conditions (which continue to apply). These are
available online at edfenergy.com/terms or you can ask us
for a copy by contacting us free on 0800 096 9000.
While we have tried to summarise the terms that we
believe might reasonably have the most significant effect,
all the terms within our full tariff rules are important and
we appreciate that different customers may have different
views as to what is of most significance to them. For this
reason it is important that you read these terms. If you
have any questions about them, please let us know so we
can clarify these. You can find full tariff rules for
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 on pages 13 to 15 of this
booklet.
released a new product which, based on:
• typical yearly consumption;
• current prices; and
would result in an estimated yearly energy bill that was at
least £52 (including VAT) less than the equivalent yearly
energy bill based on Blue +Price Promise June 2014 prices
Unless we agree otherwise, we will send the price alert notice
to the latest email address you have given us as part of our
MyAccount online management service. If you do not give us
an email address, or you choose to receive paper
communications, we will send your price alert notice by post.
We cannot guarantee that products identified in our price
alert notice will still be available at the time you receive the
price alert service. However, you can still visit
our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 webpage
www.edfenergy.com/pricepromisealert at any time.
Wherever reasonably possible, we will update this web
page within two working days of receiving published
prices from another supplier.
We define typical yearly consumption as 3,300 kWh for
Standard-meter electricity and 16,500 kWh for
Standard-meter gas, and as 5,000 kWh for Economy-7
meter electricity.
We will do our best to access other suppliers’ published
prices so we can send you other customer notices as soon
as possible.
Low-carbon nuclear matching
8. We will make sure that by the end of the fuel-mix
reporting year we will purchase an amount of low-carbon
nuclear electricity that at least matches the total volume of
electricity we have estimated that we have supplied to all
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 customers in that period.
We will calculate this on the same basis as we have
calculated our fuel label which we are required to publish
under the Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations
2005. However, we will not be legally responsible if events
beyond our reasonable control prevent us from achieving
this matching in any single fuel-mix reporting year. A
fuel-mix reporting year begins on 1 April and ends on
31 March the following year.
Carbon offsetting your gas consumption
If you have applied to offset the carbon-dioxide emissions
associated with your gas consumption as part of being
supplied on our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff, you
will take part in the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 offset
scheme and rules 9, 10 and 11 apply to you.
9. This rule applies only if you are taking part in the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff gas offset scheme.
For the purposes of the scheme, all calculations in relation
to volumes in carbon-dioxide emissions will be based on
the principle that 0.205kg of carbon dioxide is emitted for
every kWh of gas you use. This is based on the estimate
published by the Department for Environment, Food and
Rural Affairs (Defra), as at September 2012. We may
review and amend this and we will let you know if we do.
If you take part in the scheme, you will pay 0.153p/kWh
(no VAT applies) extra for the gas supplied as part of your
supply contract (offset contributions).
10. This rule applies only if you are taking part in the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff gas offset scheme.
We will put all the offset contributions per kWh from all
scheme customers into a central fund. We will invest this
money into a range of projects aimed at reducing or
absorbing carbon-dioxide worldwide. We will do so by
using the services of The CarbonNeutral Company (or
another carbon-offset service provider we choose). This
14
contribution will pay for a range of renewable-energy and
resource-conservation projects across the world that are
essential to reducing carbon-dioxide emissions. Each year
we will make sure that the level of investment is enough
to support projects that will, as a minimum, during the life
of the project, reduce or absorb a volume of carbon
dioxide that is no less than the yearly volume of
carbon-dioxide emissions associated with the gas supplied
to all scheme customers during the relevant calendar year.
We will renew the total gas consumption of all scheme
customers regularly in line with actual or estimated data
from our billing systems. We will then make investment
decisions as a result.
11. This rule applies only if you are taking part in the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff gas offset scheme.
The regular update aims to provide a comparison against
equivalent products. So if you are on our gas offset
scheme, comparisons to other products will not take into
account the extra cost of offsetting your gas with us,
unless the product being compared also includes
offsetting CO2 emissions connected with your gas supply.
If this is the case, in the comparison we will include the
offset costs associated with Blue +Price Promise June 2014
and the other compared product.
General terms
12. If you sign up to be supplied on Blue +Price Promise
June 2014 tariff, unless you tell us otherwise, we will
transfer all your qualifying fuel accounts onto the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff rates. We have
included details of the unit rates for this tariff in this leaflet
or we will have given them to you with the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff supply contract. You
can also get a copy by contacting us free on
0800 096 9000 quoting Blue +Price Promise June 2014.
We may monitor or record calls to this number as part of
our customer-care programme. 0800 calls are free from
UK landlines. Other operators may charge different
amounts.
13. Our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff rates will
apply to all energy you have used from the date we apply
the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff (or tariffs) to your
account and until your accounts are withdrawn from the
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff in line with these rules
or your supply terms, for whatever reason. In these
circumstances, the following bill you receive will show the
charges for the period up to the withdrawal date (based
on our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff rates) and the
period after the withdrawal date (based on the new tariff
you are placed on). If we do not have an accurate meter
reading, we will rely on an estimated meter reading to
work out the charges. If after signing up to our
Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff, you change energy
supplier or (for whatever reason) take a supply on any
tariff other than our Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff,
we will immediately and permanently withdraw you from
the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff.
14. We will write to you at least 30 working days before
30 June 2014 to remind you that the Blue +Price Promise
tariff is coming to an end. You can then switch to one of
our other tariffs that are available at that time. If you do
not choose to switch to another tariff during this 30-day
period, we will arrange for your energy accounts to be
automatically transferred onto our Standard (Variable) tariff
on 1 July 2014 (or if unavailable, a product that we
consider to be comparable). We cannot guarantee that
when this transfer takes place our Standard (Variable) tariff
will be the same price as Blue +Price Promise June 2014.
15. To avoid any doubt, we will not increase your price
until 30 June 2014. However, we will be allowed to
change any other part of Blue +Price Promise June 2014
full tariff rules at any time by publishing the amendments
on our website. All these changes will apply from the date
we publish the change on our website. If, by law, we have
to make any significant changes to the full tariff rules, we
will let you know about the changes in writing and in line
with the conditions of our supply licence. We can
withdraw the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff from
sale at any time by telling our customers about this on our
website. We will not accept any applications we receive
after this date.
16. Registering for the Blue +Price Promise June 2014 tariff
depends on you accepting these full tariff rules. Please do
not try to register for the Blue +Price Promise June 2014
tariff if you cannot accept the conditions.
17. If you are on the Blue +Price Promise June 2014, it will
not affect our ongoing rights under the terms & conditions
of your relevant gas and electricity supply contracts. You
can find these at www.edfenergy.com/tariff-info. These
will always take priority over these rules if there is any
difference between the two.
18. If you choose to pay for your electricity or gas (or both)
by making a fixed periodic direct debit payment, we may
review your payment amount from time to time to help
make sure it is appropriate for the amount of energy you
use. While we may review your payment more frequently
in some circumstances, we will only usually review it once
a year. This will be the case even if we receive meter
readings or other relevant information more frequently. By
choosing to pay in this way, you agree to this.
