“It matters to me as my country is running itself into the ground and its people are becoming
increasingly divided. And the apparent rise in intolerance is not only allowed but actively promoted by
those in government. I've been out of the UK for 6 years and still care passionately. You view your
country differently from outside, see it for what it is, the good and the bad. After 15 years maybe you
know too much and that's why they stop you voting. I came to Spain post-referendum so knew there
could be uncertainty, but I kind of thought sanity would prevail re the whole Brexit thing, clearly it
hasn't. ¡Y ahora mi mucho gusto vivir en España, y no quiero salir!”
“It matters to me because I am of the generation when Europe was hatefully divided. We must stand
together and help Europe grow.”
“It matters to me because I've spent the last hour reading many of the contributions posted and we
all have common sentiments which boil down to being potentially robbed of our freedom of choice of
being EU Citizens by an illegally hi jacked advisory, minority vote! These sentiments I am trying to
instil into my UK based son and daughter to get them fired up out of their complacency/apathy and
my brother too, but they all share that "we're fed up of hearing about Brexit" feeling. I am trying to
persuade them to follow Bremain and their local Anti Brexit groups. I know the feeling it is the same
here on Crete the complacency “oh we'll just have to hope it goes ok in March 2019" - there is no anti
Brexit group here. Why don't I start one do I hear? Well I do my bit to anyone who'll listen by telling
them to log into Bremain... and FairDealForum and find out for themselves what they could be in
danger of losing in addition to my own statement ‘It matters to me, so it should matter to you!’”
“It matters to me because I am European first, British second and have been resident in Spain for 13
years. I want to stay European and continue to have freedom of movement for me and my family in
the UK. I was able to vote and voted remain and object strongly when told "it's the will of the people"
It's NOT my will. #It matters to me”
“It matters to me because of blue sky and green pine, neighbourly smile, kindness appreciation, fresh
food, lover, friends, wine, tobacco, spring flowers, heart, soul, my maturity blooming here, the
multitude I have taught professionally. Many of the things others mentioned today. But right now,
what pains me is the loss of pride and confidence in the UK. I am a Scot by birth and feel oh so
betrayed.”
“It matters to me that I can choose to be a European in the EU, in preference to being British in
Britain.”
“It matters to me because I was there in the 60s when it was called the Common Market and one of
the reasons we joined was to stop wars with our European neighbours. Today I have lived happily in
Spain for 31 years, meeting friends visiting Spain from France, Germany, Italy etc, and freely visiting
those countries myself. We want that friendly freedom to continue.”
“It matters to us because we have property in Spain to which we will retire to next February. But
even if that were not our plan it matters to us as we are European and have always embraced the
culture and diversity of Europe. We feel we are stronger in Europe and the future is brighter in
Europe for our children and grandchildren.”
