Twenty-Five years of Recognition On July 9, 1993, the first Trey Whitfield Foundation Awards Banquet was held. The ultimate goal was to support children and education. Just as important is our goal to recognize and honor academic and adult achievers. The objective is simple - demonstrate by example how anyone can realize one’s dreams with hard work and dedication as exemplifed by these Adult Honorees shown in this retrospective over more than two decades. From the 1990s to the 2010s, we honored Earl Monroe, O.J. Anderson, Charles Oakley, Jethro Pugh, Pepper Johnson, Roosevelt Brown, Gary Beban, Jim Brown, Nate Archibald, Tom Sanders, Mel Davis, Jo Jo White, Ray Allen, Antonio Davis, Chris Mullins, Alonzo Mourning, George Martin, Dick Lynch, Kevin Willis, Earl Lloyd, Chris Webber, Willis Reed, Sam Jones, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Darryl Dawkins, Rick Barry, Perry Williams, Gail Marquis, John Starks and and many other sports luminaries. Their work extended beyond sports and into the community, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps and to always strive to do their personal best. Our first Honoree!
