Mokena Community Park District
announces its 2018 summer lineup
We’ve been busy all
winter long at Mokena
Community Park District
planning a great line-up of
family-friendly activities
that everyone can enjoy all
summer long.
Coming soon is the
opening of the Splash Pad
on May 29. It will be open
daily through Aug. 19
(weather permitting). Sessions
are: Noon–1:30 p.m.,
2–3:30 p.m. and 4–5:30
p.m. On Wednesdays an
additional evening session
is open from 6–7:30
p.m. From Aug. 20–Sept.
2, the hours will be limited.
Walk-up rates are $1
per session, per resident,
$3 for non-residents. A
13-visit punch card is also

available to residents for
$10. Adults aged 18 and
over with a paying child
are free, and children under
the age of 2 are also
free. Cool off and relax at
the Splash Pad this summer.

Another popular feature
at Yunker Farm is the
Park ‘n Bark Dog Park.
The dog park is open yearround
from dawn to dusk.
It’s a great way for dogs
(and their owners) to exercise
and socialize. An annual
pass is required to use
the park and proof of your
dog’s immunizations must
be provided. With a small
dog section and a large

dog section, everyone can
have fun. An annual pass
for residents is $15 ($25
for non-residents) for the
first dog and $5 for each
additional dog. Passes are
available at the Administration
Office.
Our Free Music and
Movies in the Park series
will be at the new Yunker
Farm Bandshell this summer
beginning with the
band, 3AM performing on
June 14. The series continues
with Beauty & The
Beast on June 28, Dave &
The Blue Snouts performing
on July 12, Zootopia
on July 26 and Coco on
Aug. 24. Concerts begin
at 7 p.m. and movies begin
at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy
the terraced grass seating
or bring your lawn chairs
or blankets to enjoy these
free events.
New this year on the
Fourth of July from 5-9
p.m. at Main Park, the staff
from Mokena Park District
and Mokena Library are
teaming up to offer food
vendors and free kids activities,
including bounce
houses, balloon artist, face
painting, games, a mechanical
bulldog and stage
entertainment from 5-7
p.m. Don’t miss this great
addition to our Community
Celebration.
This is also the inaugural
year for the Community
Gardens on Yunker Farm.
The garden plots are almost
sold out and the gardeners
are ready to plant.
Plots are 14-feetx12-feet
and are $25 per plot for
residents, $40 for nonresidents.
