Ellis Lifeguard Certification / Swim Ellis & Associates Lifeguarding Course Friday, Saturday & Sunday Y member rate: $175 Y non-member rate: $225 Prerequisites: swim 200 yards (eight lengths); tread water for 2 minutes without using your hands; perform feet first surface dive to lift a 10-pound brick off the bottom of the pool. Upon 100 percent attendance and successful completion of water skills and written exam, participants receive a one-year certification in Ellis and Associates Lifeguarding. Must possess a valid email address. Environmental & STEM / Arts and Learning Family Nature Workshop: Animal Tracks and Signs Wednesday Y member rate: $5 Y non-member rate: $8 We don't always see all of the different animals that live in UMLY's Cassatt Preserve, but we can often find signs that they leave behind. In this workshop we will learn how to find animal tracks, scat, rubbings, fur, pellets, and how to read different animal signs. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian through the duration of the program. Pricing is per participant, pre-registration required. Ages: 2 and up 71137 Nature Center Classroom 7pm to 8pm Wed, June 20, 2018 Family Nature Workshop: Strawberry Moon Hike Wednesday Y member rate: $5 Y non-member rate: $8 June's full moon is called the Strawberry Moon, because Algonquin tribes knew this as the time to gather ripening fruit. We will take advantage of the extra moonlight to hike in search of constellations and nocturnal wildlife, and maybe even munch on some fresh UMLY Farm strawberries!
