Fellow Nobles, our Annual Ladies Night was held at the 1760 House in Trexlertown on Saturday, March
24. There were 37 Nobles and Ladies present, including members of the Divan, as well as the Potentate and
his Lady Kim.
The dinner was a buffet with salad, three appetizers, and choices of beef tips, chicken Marsala and ziti
pasta. Soda and iced tea was included. We had a short business meeting to allow the Treasurer to pay the
restaurant bill.
Our entertainment was “We3,” a trio of men playing guitars and singing songs from our era, meaning the
50s and 60s. The group was a hit and we received many compliments on their music. Thank you to my Lady
Jan for recommending the musicians.
Roger C. Reis The April meeting was on the fourth and saw us back at the Brass Rail. The 30 Nobles and Ladies enjoyed
the Brass Rails’ famous cheese steaks. Again, no one left hungry. Illustrious Sir Jared Kichline and his Lady
joined us. We appreciate their continued support of our Club and always enjoy their company.
Due to an unforeseen change in his work schedule, our First VP had to resign his post. Past Potentate and Past Lehigh Shrine Club
President Ill. Sir David W. Evans graciously agreed to take the position. Thank you Ill. Sir Dave!
We have experienced a sharp drop in member attendance and a lack of volunteers to fill our Officer positions and to help out at
activities. We need the support of our Nobles to maintain an active Club. Nobles, we need you to come to meetings and to volunteer
to serve.
Not too early to “Save the Date” for our golf outing on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Always a fun day!
As always, it’s GREAT to be a Shriner!
HOSPITAL SERVICES
After a long cold winter and spring, we are working on a “bucket list” of projects and activities. Our
2018 Raffle is underway with the drawing to be held at MASA on September 8, 2018 in Virginia Beach.
We wish to express our appreciation to
the nobility for their support in the past
and look forward to a successful event
this year.
The second phase reconstruction
of our parade float is underway, and
we expect to be up and running by
early summer. In 2016 we completely
replaced the exterior sides and updated
the graphics which were outdated. Our
focus currently is now on the interior where our intent is to replace
the mannequins that have been on the float for many years with
real live Shriners. Chairs and railings are being installed so that
our members and guests can participate in parades and events. One
important step in the process however is the need for volunteer
drivers to pull the float once it is completed. Nobles who would
like to volunteer their time and a tow vehicle are asked to contact
Paul W. Shaw at 610- 965-6417 for details and information.
Also included in our list of activities is the participation
and attendance to the Philadelphia Hospital Expanded Board
Day, which will be held on June 21, 2018. In addition to the
tours, luncheon, etc. provided by the hospital, the open board
meeting is very informative and educational as to treatment and
excellent care provided to our patients and their families.
We welcome new member Richard Hontz to the Hospital
Service Unit and extend an invitation to Nobles to join us for
our next meeting to be held on June 14th at the Rajah Complex.
The meeting begins at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
