Eleanor Vella - Choral and Orchestral Society

OPEN DAY - 21 MARCH 2010
On the first day of spring – the 21 st of March, 2010,
our Society organised an Open Day, which turned
out to be a huge success. Benefiting from perfect
weather conditions and a pleasant atmosphere
many people and Committees from other clubs
visited our new premises to see the progress carried
out on the building project so far.
Guided tours around the premises, an organised
concert by the Junior Choir and Orchestra,
performances by other students and musicians, an
art exhibition by the artists Mr. Gilbert Fenech and
Mr. Lewis Zammit and members wearing traditional
Maltese costumes throughout the day were the
highlights of this special day. A projector showing
video clips and photos of the works carried out at
the premises in the past months was also another
innovation during this open day. Furthermore, our
new website www.choirandorchestra.org was also
launched on this day.

Whoever visited our premises, which then consisted
of the old part of our building restored to traditional
finishes and the works in progress on the new lower
floors, appreciated the works carried out and gave
their moral and financial support through donations.
In a few words, it was a celebration of a whole
year of hard work by our members and volunteers.
The satisfaction and sense of pride on our members’
faces was so evident and justified. This was only
the first phase of the project. From this experience
we know that with this team effort and our members’
motivation and dedication we can start working
on the second phase and finish it successfully.
On behalf of the Committee of the Choral and
Orchestral Society ‘Maria Bambina’ we would like to
thank all those members who gave their input and
effort making this Open Day a success, and all those
who showed their support through donations in aid
of this project.
