about the meaning of students’ behaviour and adjust their responses accordingly.<br />
Often the most effective response is to be clear and explicit about their own expectations<br />
or those prevalent in Canadian society.<br />
ESL services should be provided in a manner that<br />
respects students’ language and culture of origin<br />
and builds on students’ existing abilities.<br />
