Manga to Anime
Workshop

An artistic tradition based in Japan, print
comics known as manga have become a
popular art form worldwide. Animated
filmmaking derived from manga is known
as anime. In this class, you’ll learn about line,
contour and figure drawing to create your own
manga-inspired anime, using graphics tablets
and animation software.
Portfolio Development
Workshop

Find the direction and support you need to
create a strong portfolio under the guidance
of a knowledgeable and talented artist.
No matter what your medium, we’ll help
you synthesize an artist’s statement and
document your work in a way that’s easily
shareable. Depending on your art form, we
may suggest that you create either a digital or
physical portfolio. Please bring an example of
your work to our first meeting.
High School
Digital Video Workshop
6 Saturdays Jan 20 - Feb 24 1:00pm - 4:00pm
$225 members / $250 non-members
This class offers a solid foundation in the
skills essential to digital movie creation--
composition, cinematography, audio, editing,
and more. In-class screenings and discussion
of narrative, documentary, and experimental
films and videos will establish a command
of the language of filmmaking. Students will
collaborate on projects and make a short
(2-4 min) film of their own using digital video
cameras and Adobe Premiere.

Family Workshops
Family Workshops are the perfect opportunity for parents and children to create together. An
adult must accompany all children and all attendees must register. Family Workshops are $50
for two people, plus $25 for each additional person (up to three children per adult).
Create and Animate
Saturday, January 13, 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Create a world of your own in this fun family workshop combining collage and sculpture with storytelling and
animation. You’ll work together to brainstorm an original story, design a unique set, and create zany characters. Then,
bring everything to life through stop-motion animation, using tablets and apps!

Get ready for Valentine’s Day by creating together with PF/PCA! Come to our photo booth to shoot family portraits
and learn a few basic digital photography tips. Then, design and screen-print original valentine cards in our

Draw from a clothed model to gain experience
with gesture and contour and learn about
proportion and anatomy. You’ll use materials
like charcoal, oil pastel and paint to hone your
observational skills. Move beyond sketched
studies to create a successful piece of
artwork.

Take to the skies in this introduction to
unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or drones).
You’ll learn about different types of drones
and their various uses before using a flight
simulator to see what it’s like to fly. Then head
outside to experiment with several different
models, including micro drones, quadcopters,
and cinema drones. We’ll also discuss the
legality of flying UAVs, and what it takes to
build your own flying machine.

Learn about the innovative possibilities of drones in this exploratory family workshop. We’ll discuss different types
of flying machines and their uses, then take to the skies with a flight simulator and micro drone.
Making Mugs
Saturday, March 17, 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Learn about ceramics by creating your own unique mug, using the slab process. Individualize your piece by adding
texture​and a handle; then​,​send it off to be glazed. Note: Participants will need to pick up their creations the
following week.

Suncatchers and Bracelets

This workshop serves as an introduction to
digital illustration for students interested in
drawing, animating, and creating characters
and worlds of their own. You’ll learn how to
create computer-generated 2D animations
using a stylus and graphics tablet, while
referencing animations viewed in class
to inform and improve your work. Work
with Adobe Animate to explore the vast
possibilities of animation, and begin bringing
your own unique stories to life!

This workshop provides an opportunity for
curious photographers of all skill levels to
produce images using the analog process.
We’ll cover photograms, pinhole cameras and
black-and-white 35mm film photography.
After choosing and digitizing your best prints,
you’ll then explore contemporary digital tools
like Photoshop and Lightroom to edit your
images.
$365 members / $390 non-members
Combine digital photography and ceramics
for a unique, multimedia final product. Learn
to harness the power of digital photography
and Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop to create
original designs, then transfer your images
onto handmade ceramic pottery and tiles that
you create. Specific glazes, in conjunction with
your digital images, will further embellish the
final look of your wares. Bring your own digital
camera or borrow one of ours; all materials
provided.
Get in the spirit for spring! At this Family Maker Day, we’ll use the mosaic technique to create suncatchers, and
explore metalsmithing by creating our own unique bracelets.

Looking to get creative as a family? This workshop is for you - and yours! Brainstorm and sketch ideas together, then
create some beautiful stained glass pieces using the mosaic technique.
