<strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Crabbe</strong> was born in Swindon where his father was organist of the<br />

Parish Church and educated at Clayesmore School, where he attained<br />

his ARCM and FRCO diplomas. In 1972, he was elected Mackinnon<br />

<strong>Organ</strong> Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he studied Music<br />

under Bernard Rose and David Wulstan, continuing his organ studies<br />

with Nicholas Danby at New College. Whilst at Magdalen, he made<br />

recordings of the music of <strong>St</strong>ainer, <strong>St</strong>anford and Wood.<br />

After teaching roles at Lord Williams’s School, Thame and Chiltern<br />

Edge School, Sonning Common, he was appointed Head of Keyboard<br />

<strong>St</strong>udies at Marlborough College in 1990, taking on the additional role<br />

of Chapel <strong>Organ</strong>ist in 1996. <strong>Ian</strong> <strong>Crabbe</strong> was closely involved in the<br />

research and development of the new Chapel organ, built by<br />

Beckerath in 2006.
