30th motorcycle
swap meet
November 19, 2017
Harrisburg Farm Complex, Harrisburg • PA
story ridin’ & pics by Lutz
I’ve always liked this swap meet as its has so much stuff to look at and many
items can come home with you if the price is right!
Motorcycles as well as any conceivable parts, all under one big roof and just
before the holiday. So you can pick up that last minute goodie for your favorite
biker while you’re here. There’s more than just parts, there’s plenty of memorable
as well. Clothes, die-cast, etc, and some neat Harley related items that
would look great in the garage as well. Lots of stock and aftermarket items for
sale to finish up the final touches on your motorcycle. This event is on the to do
list, so keep your eyes open for the next one.
ANNUAL BATTLE
OF THE
KINGS EVENT
CONTINUES
TO GROW
June 19, 2018
www.harley-davidson.com
Started in 2015, the Battle of the Kings (BOTK) custom build
competition is the largest dealer custom bike build competition
in the world. Running in many markets including: Europe,
Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Japan, Battle of the Kings is
a great event for showcasing Harley-Davidson’s leadership in
customization, including their vast range of parts and accessories
amidst an increasingly competitive market. BOTK emphasizes
the fact that Harley-Davidson ® dealers are custom
experts and since 2015, H-D ® dealers have submitted over
500 custom builds based on Street and Sportster ® platforms.
Half way into 2018, more than 220 dealers in EMEA have
already taken part in the competition! In an effort to create
brand and product relevance for new and younger riders, Harley-Davidson
has upped their game by expanding BOTK into
Australia, Brazil, China, Columbia, India, Japan, Mexico and
Thailand for the first time. Because of this expansion, Harley-
Davidson is putting unique designs and the possibilities of
customization within the reach of new and younger riders.
The BOTK competition has 4 simple entry rules:
• The base model must be a Harley-Davidson ® Dark Custom
motorcycle; which in 2018 also includes two new Softail ®
models – Street Bob ® and Fat Bob ®
• The customization budget should be within 6,000 Euros (or
equivalent amount in other currencies)
• At least half of the custom parts and accessories must come
from the official Harley-Davidson ® range
• The motorcycle eventually must be road legal and sold at
6,000 Euros above the retail price
As regional winners are decided, the custom bike creations
have been displayed at numerous motorcycle and lifestyle
events, with a focus on attracting competitor owners. Harley-
Davidson will announce the final winner (from the slew of regional
winners) of the now international competition at Italy’s
EICMA motorcycle show this November.
Take a look at four of the current winners moving on to the
finals on the left.
Story, Ridin’ & Pics by Lutz
Amy and Pat Moore are mother and father to Army Spc Benjamin
Moore who was killed in Afghanistan. Amy a proud gold
star mom and Pat for many years keep his spirit and memory
alive with a yearly motorcycle event that benefits graduating
firefighters and EMT’s from Burlington county for which Ben
was involved in the local fire department. Cards where drawn
at the beginning and along the way to which the best hand
won. Once at the destination of the ride which was the Bordentown
Elks, the parking lot was loaded up with bikes and now it
was time to checkout the party!
Rolling Thunder Chapter 2, who Pat and Amy belong to, were
there to help out their friends. Outside some vendors had veteran
related items for sale or you could go in and get some food,
drink and relax and enjoy kicking back and looking around.
Inside was a chinese auction or you could try your luck with
the lottery hat. With many friends and family out to support this
one you know it was sure to end up well.
Road Scribes Of America
Non territorial
The road is our home
Taking on the miles
And writing our Biker Poems
An eclectic group of Bikers
Eccentric some are called
We are on a mission
Trying to spread the word
In books, magazines, and newspapers
You'll read what's on our minds
And out there on the highway
Is where we're likely to be found
Our rides are our pen
The road is our page
Every mile a stanza
And gas is our ink
The Simple Life
A decent job to pay the bills
A ride to call my own
A righteous ol' lady waiting for me
Whenever I get home
An open road with cagers few
On a brisk cold sunny day
An open door with welcoming arms
And a warm embrace
A moonlit highway
A fresh paved road
Another gear up on the throttle
The simple life is the one I live
As long as there's roads to be traveled
Who Turns Out The Light?
Smell the tar and asphalt
On which the wheels of progress roll
Roaming trail of concrete
Where highway’s ribbons flow
We could leave a better place
For the future of our young
Instead we leave them desolation
And progress never done.
There are always prophets
They come from time to time
To guide us to a resting place
That we alone can’t find.
We see the world in parables
In ways that it might be
Without an understanding
Of the things, that set us free
Is there such a thing as afterlife?
In visions we can’t see
Do the visions shade salvation?
Will the truth now set us free?
We have pockets full of empty
And a suitcase full of dreams
With ambitions under lock and key
To protect us from ourselves,
We are strangers in the universe
Condemned by wrong and right
Searching through the shadows
In the darkness of the night,
When there is no more souls to leave a ghost town
Who then, turns out the light?
