Women in Insulation
There is an average 10% pay gap between men and
women in full time jobs and 34.5% in part time jobs.
(Stonewall 2017) How do you feel the industry could assist
in addressing this?
The government has made the first move to
address this. Companies and public-sector
bodies with more than 250 employees must
have now reported their gender pay gap by
April 4, 2018. What will be interesting is how
the government will act against companies
that deliberately pay women less than men for
doing the same work. The next step must be
to challenge smaller companies who are also
actively discriminating by gender.
Anything you would like to add?
The construction industry offers excellent career
opportunities to all, changing building
regulations ensure the industry continually
evolves which makes it an exciting and fun
industry to be a part of. We do however need
more women entering the construction industry
within technical and leadership roles. I
have met some great people over the last 20+
years working in a variety of different roles
and look forward many more ahead.
