UPSI the Recipient of the
International Education Award
UPSI, 30 Jun – Vice Chancellor, Profesor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar
Sabran, along with four staff members and the entire Faculty of Music and
Performance Arts, has once again brought the university into the limelight
courtesy of the International Education Award (IEA) which was held at the
Culture Theatre, Faculty of Music and Performance Arts (FMSP).
The recipients of said award were: Professor Dr. Sopia Md Yassin, the
Director of the National Child Development Research Centre, Associate
Professor Zaharul Lailiddin Saidon, the Dean of FMSP; Dr. Rosly Jaafar,
lecturer for the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, and Dr. Siti Rahaimah
Ali, the senior lecturer

Social Welfare of the
Republic of Kosovo,
Skender Recica to Prof.
Dato’ Dr. Mohammad
Shatar as well as other
recipients during the
function.
Profesor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar stated that such a certification
could serve as an effective boost of morale to the staff of UPSI as to work
even harder in making the university’s aspiration of becoming the no 1
education university in the region a reality.

He also added
that all the staff members of the university will work just as hard without
much regard for awards as their main agenda is to ensure the university
would be touted as the best education university in the world which would
in turn qualify it into the top 100 of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World
University rankings.
The IEA was held as a token of appreciation to the contribution that
educators and educational the contribution that educators and educational
institutions has yielded in terms of successes to the field of education and
their many contributions toward society.

UPSI celebrates nearly 100 Media Practitioners
a comprehensive coverage regarding product launches, press
conferences, activities, et cetera.
“We are convinced that with the help and commitment
from our media colleagues, our [UPSI] aspirations to becoming
the No.1 education university will be a reality,” he further
elaborated.
The ceremony began with a breaking fast feast, and briefly
veers into the Maghrib prayer before it was followed by a meet
and greet session between UPSI’s management and the media
practitioners.
Also attending are, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and
International), Professor Dr. Mohd Sahandri Gani Hamzah,
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni) Affairs, Associate
Professor Dr. Md Amin Md Taff and Registrar, Dr. Hajah Zainab
Othman.
Kuala Lumpur, 5 June – Nearly 100 media practitioners were
celebrated in a “Majlis Berbuka Puasa UPSI Bersama Media”
function which was held at the Park Royal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar
Sabran stated that the breaking fast ceremony was held as a
token of appreciation toward the media’s mutual collaboration
with the representatives of UPSI.
“We [UPSI] had organized this function as a mean to show
our appreciation and as a sign of gratitude toward the media
for their unabashed support as well as serving as a mean
to further strengthen our relationship with the media,” he
explained.
He also added that after deliberating with colleagues in
the field of media, UPSI is in the middle of creating a “City
Campus” in Puchong as a mean to facilitate the media in doing

and Economics, Tan Chi Hau, manage to
garner third place in a Three Minute Thesis
(3MT) competition under the Social Sciences
category. The national level competition was
held at the CETAL Hall, Universiti Teknologi
Petronas (UTP).
UPSI garners Third Place
during the 3MT Competition
Tan Chi Hau garnered the award through his
thesis entitled “Do you love your job?” thus taking
home the prize money worth RM 700.00.
The prizes and awards distribution was handled
by the Vice Chancellor of UTP, Professor Dr.
Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib.
The 3MT competition was held with the aim
of finding a proper representative of Malaysia to
be sent to Australia this coming September. The
competition was opened to all post graduate
students from both public and private universities
who are interested in sharing their dissertations and
findings to the public.
UPSI was also appointed as primary host for the
2019 competition with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa
serving as co-organizer.
UPSI also sent two other applications under the
Social Sciences and Science and Technology category
respectively: Nor Firdous Mohamed from the Faculty
of Human Development and Muqoyyanah from the
Faculty of Science and Mathematics.
