New Voting Rule<br />

Invoked by Speaker<br />

The New Jersey Assembly's new<br />

rule requiring all members to vote<br />

or be declared against the particular<br />

business under balloting was invoked<br />

for the first time Thursday by<br />

Speaker Paul M, Salsburg, <strong>of</strong> Atlan-<br />

tic County.<br />

The rule, adopted at the begin-<br />

ning <strong>of</strong> the less session, gives tho<br />

Speaker the power to cast the ballot<br />

<strong>of</strong> any member who was present but<br />

refused to vote fur himself on pro-<br />

posed legislation. A member must<br />

vote or the Speaker will record him<br />

in the negative.<br />
