DEED RESTRICTIONS
Deed restrictions for Westlake and Westlake Forest are available
for your review on our website at westlakecia.org. The policy for
deed restrictions violations is to send a courtesy notice, followed
by a warning notice if the violation is not cleared. If the violation is
still not cleared, a fine of $100 plus $25 per month for every month
that the violation exists will be assessed.
We have a small percentage of incorrigible offenders who continue to frustrate
their neighbors and receive an ever increasing number of violations
and fines. The vast majority of our residents maintain their properties in
good order. We thank you for taking pride in your home and community.
POOLS CLOSING FOR SEASON
The pools in both Westlake Forest and Westlake will close for the
season following the last day of swimming on the 12 th of August.
Life guards are not available after this time due to the start of the
KISD calendar year.
Maintenance will begin at the Westlake pool on the areas that need
attention when the pools are closed.
BACK TO SCHOOL AT KISD
The start of school this year will be on Wednesday, August 15,
2018. School buses will be running their regular schedules and
parents are asked to accompany elementary aged children to their
school bus stop in the mornings in order to prevent children from
darting into the street and other dangerous behavior. As a driver, be
extra cautious at this time, as children are returning to a restricted
environment after a summer of casual play and we must anticipate
a child darting in front of our moving vehicle anytime the buses
are loading and unloading or children are walking through the
subdivisions. Drive under the speed limit when children are present.
There is a tremendous fine for failure to stop for a loading/unloading
school bus. In the subdivisions, both sides of the street must stop
and wait for children while boarding or leaving the school bus.
Our deputy will be carefully patrolling where the school buses are
traveling: exercise great caution!
UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS
The first Tuesday evening of October will be National Night Out
in Harris County, Texas. Westlake Forest will be holding events
which include free barbeque, door prizes, information, mounted
patrol, the fire department, possibly a K-9 visit and visits from the
command staff of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Circle that date
on your calendar. At the time of this writing, we do not know if we
will hold a second NNO celebration in Westlake. That decision will
be driven by the number of volunteers who want to participate from
the Westlake subdivision. If no celebration is held in Westlake, the
families of Westlake will be invited to attend the Westlake Forest
celebration.
The Annual Meeting of the Homeowners of the Westlake Community
Improvement Association will be held the second week of
November at the Westlake Fire Station. We will publish the exact
date in the October and November newsletters. The decision of
whether or not to expand the pool hours will be based on the votes
of the members who attend the meeting and on the proxie votes.
Expansion of the pool hours will mean an increase in dues of $35
per household for 2019.
The first Saturday morning (December 1, 2018) in December will
be Breakfast with Santa in Westlake Forest. This includes a visit
from Santa Claus, free breakfast, gifts, snacks and crafts for the
children. Plan to bring your children to this special kick-off for the
Christmas and Holiday season.
At this time we do not know if we will hold a Breakfast with Santa
event in Westlake. The decision will be made based on the number
of volunteers we have to organize and present this program for the
community. Westlake families will be invited to the Westlake Forest
celebration if one is not held in Westlake.
PARKING IN NEIGHBORHOODS
By now everyone is familiar with the Texas parking law. And most
residents are well aware of the flagrant violators of this state law.
Tickets will continue to be written to those who refuse to stop
parking used cars and junk vehicles on the public roadway. The
