Gill says "Six-spot Burnet Moths are currently active around
our Downs & Commons. Most moths fly at night, but this
species is active during the day and displays typical black & red
colouration to warn predators that it's not good to eat.
I look for insects in good condition and on a plant that adds
to the composition. Its also important to have an uncluttered
background. To ensure all of the subject is sharp, get your
camera parallel to the insect. Telephoto lenses allow you to
stand further back (less likely to disturb the insect) and macro
lenses give superb quality, but they are not essential - most
compact cameras and phones can take very good close-up
photos using a macro setting (often indicated by a flower
symbol).
This moth was preparing to roost in a meadow. I like the
iridescence on the wings (created by the evening light being
refracted by the insect's scales). It was taken on a compact
camera."
may be plurals, foreign words or proper nouns. Each
word must be of three letters or more, all must contain the
central letter and letters can only be used once in every
word. There is at least one word that uses all of the letters
in the wheel.
Check Before
You Pay
Are you paying for something unnecessarily?
With technology you often are, because many
of the various contracts we have come with all
kinds of goodies that we don’t know about.
Those goodies might be financial services – for
example, our bank current account includes
mobile phone and tablet insurance as standard –
or other kinds of services. Mobile phone contracts
are particularly good for this – a Vodafone Red
plan offers a choice of subscriptions to the
Spotify music service, NOW TV Entertainment
or Sky Sports Mobile TV, and EE offers inclusive
BT Sport as well as data roaming in the USA,
Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia plus
the usual EU roaming.
It’s a very good idea to check what offers are
available to you and what’s already included in
the products and services you own.
