The gears of the differential have a defined helicalcut<br />

Thus, the driving torque produces an axial force<br />

which acts upon the gears, which, in turn, act upon<br />

various friction discs and generate friction.<br />

The friction, in turn, produces the desired lock-up<br />

The magnitude of the lock-up effect is defined by<br />

the locking ratio. The locking ratio by is the factor*<br />

by which the driving torque is transmitted to the<br />
