Convention

The COAI convention in
Kansas City, MO is over, but
what a swell time was had by all!
It was the bee’s knees! The host,
Northland Clown Guild Alley
#217, made us feel welcome
from the get go by showing us
their great talent, starting with
the Tuesday evening show. They
continued the showcase with
the Radio Show Luncheon, and
the Gangster Mystery Show
and Roaring 20’s Theme Party
(celebrating the Alley’s 20th
anniversary).
The whole event was full of
excellent classes, competitions,
and entertainment. I spoke to
an attendee halfway through the
convention who said her “sponge”
was full; She couldn’t soak in
anything more. That is a sign of a
nifty convention. “Sho nuff!”
One of the
concerns about
the convention was airport
transportation. The Northland
Clowns were very innovative.
They contacted a church group for
help. Attendees could go online
or write the alley with their flight
information and prepay for the
pickup. The money collected for the
ride to and from the hotel was given
to the church’s charity. It gave a
personal touch and much good will.
Thanks to all the alley members
and helpers of Northland Clown
Guild Alley #217 for an excellent
convention. You are the cat’s
meow!
As always it was good to see
old friends and meet new ones. If
you missed this convention it would
be wise to start saving your quarters
now to get yourself to the 2013
COAI convention in Richmond,
VA, April 16-21, 2013.
