I think first of all you have go to
understand the business, you’ve got
to understand the infrastructure,
don’t go around like a headless
chicken trying to see every
customer, get the backroom in order
first of all, get it organised,
unfortunately I didn’t do it that
way I was out there like a headless
chicken
“I don’t care mate that’s fine as long as I can roll it out
that’s done, I’ve done what I’ve been asked to do” and
there is an awful lot of that taking place. I go around
these sites and I’m so surprised with even the gaps that
they leave and I can’t get over the fact that they get away
with it, but then when you draw the attention of the
project manager they don’t seem to be overly concerned
about it but say “don’t worry about it I’ll get it sorted”
And all they are about is cutting pennies and when you
talk about who knows what’s going to happen about
Grenfell and what really happened and why it burnt so
quickly you don’t want to point the finger at anybody
but you know you’ve got to investigate these things first
of all before you start mentioning company names as
well

Well I’m not good at things like this Colin working for
companies like British Gypsum, Isover Saint-Gobain
it’s the biggest family that I have ever been involved
with its been fantastic, if you are prepared to help people
then people will help you back and from that point of
view I would never have wished to work for anybody
else, it’s been just the best thirty years, the people are so
generous, so supportive, fantastic you know…very good
