NEXT EVENT
Thursday 20th September 2018
5:00PM
Notes from
our chairman
It was great to see both new and familiar faces at our last
networking event and as we reach the mid-point in our events
calendar we are re-launching bundle membership so that
new members can enjoy 18 months’ worth of networking
events for one very reasonable fee. This includes the chance
for a member spotlight and 2 tickets to each of our 6 events
throughout 2018 and 2019 together with inclusion on the
business directory, information about other events, breakfasts
and social occasions that we support and of course the
chance to meet new businesses and make new connections.
Our next meeting on the 20th September is kindly sponsored
by PDR - International Centre for Design and Research and
should give us all a chance to learn about the entrepreneurs
of tomorrow.
Dates for your diary
As always there will be plenty of opportunity for networking
both facilitated and informal. You are all welcome to bring a
guest with your second ticket to give them a chance to join the
group as the more new faces we have at each meeting the
more we will all benefit.
As committee members we have plenty of personal experience
of the benefits that membership brings whether its information
we have gained about access to training and funding, joint
working with other members or using their services or generating
new business by simply getting to know others in the group
and so being trusted and recommended. If you have any
examples you are willing to share let Jo know as we are more
than happy to give your business a shout out as an example of
the benefits of membership.
I look forward to seeing you all at the event.
Strategic Design Thinking
Design has a vital role to play in innovation because innovation
is no longer purely technology focused and R&D-driven
but increasingly it is about services, the user-experience and
society.
It is widely recognised that bringing designers to the table in
early-stage innovation processes makes a crucial difference.
For start-ups, strategic design helps to get brilliant ideas to
the right market. For established businesses, it helps them to
reposition or expand their offering accordingly.
Strategic design thinking has one single goal: to understand
and solve a problem for its consumer. The current generation
of consumers has developed an intolerance for inauthenticity
- which means that in order to stay ahead, brands have
needed to change their thinking from traditional to thoughtful.
“Design Thinking” is becoming broadly accepted as a
creative problem solving methodology that can be applied to
fields far beyond those traditionally considered design.
The “design diamond”, demonstrates design thinking as a
linear process which has both divergent, exploration phases
and convergent decision-making phases which specifically
JULY - AUGUST
facilitate the understanding of the approach for business and
management practitioners. In reality, design researchers
SEPTEMBER
rarely take an approach that is as genuinely linear as the
double diamond may have you believe, however it does not
change the core sentiment of ‘design thinking’ as a
Manufacturing
problem-solving strategy and the fact that having empathy
with your stakeholders will result in better solutions.
At PDR, we use a mix of market and user research approaches,
analytical skills and thinking, and ideation approaches to
come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.
More OCTOBER and more the problems we are approached about are
what we would class as ‘strategic’. Instead of the specific
and present “design a product/service that…”, we are more
often confronted with vague and future-based problems such
as “what should we do in 5/10/20 years’ time?”
What role does User Research have in Strategy Design?
Trend and market analysis alongside gathering an understanding of future technologies and contexts through interviews with
experts and reviewing existing literature will give an insight into potential futures within which a business must function. However,
this is not enough for most to develop a coherent strategy. Questions remain around what opportunities do these potential futures
afford, where is the business best placed within this future, and how do we get it to this point?
TORFAEN BUSINESS VOICE | AUGUST 2018 NEWSLETTER 3
This is where User Research plays a vital role in defining, or
rather designing, strategy, by allowing us to:
• Understanding the opportunities that future scenarios
afford.
• Help us plan the path.
Understanding
the User’s needs
Whilst product interactions will change over time, when you
closely examine the user’s needs and values these are
rarely constrained to a technology or a timeline.
To understand these, we must take a more creative
approach to both the research itself and the analysis of it.
User trials and specified metrics are not of any use here.
Instead, methods such as ethnography, cultural probes and
design games will provide a much deeper insight of the
user’s values.
Once the user’s values are understood, these can be
mapped onto the potential futures and their subcomponents:
technology, environments, and usage contexts. This will
inform an end-goal and a strategy direction and will move the
marker from ‘potential futures’ to a designed ‘proposed
future’.
Las Iguanas – Fajita Stack
Understanding
the Present
As any high-achiever will tell you, a goal is only useful if there is
a clear understanding of the starting point. Strategy Design
should be seen as a defined plan to achieve that goal and an
understanding of the present day is therefore vital to identify the
missing components and required developments to move from
the present to the future.
The previously discovered needs and values can create a
framework for the investigation of the present. User Research
methods such as contextual inquiries, interviews and diaries
are then used to understand how the current state of play
allows, or prevents, the user to actualise their needs and
values. This defines the starting point of the journey, the
present, and we can then clarify the steps required to move
along the path.
This path will inevitably be challenging - if there are no challenges
then there is no reason for it to be a ‘proposed future’ rather
than a ‘proposed present’! This is where the more traditional
design skills of ideation and concept generation can help
provide innovations and solutions to these challenges. These
concepts will of course be informed by all the research that has
come before it: a deep understanding of the user and the
secondary research around future technologies, environments
and usage contexts.
At PDR, the team is comprised of a wide range of people with
varying specialisms meaning that we can cover the whole
scope of research and analysis skills required to design strategy,
and that we also have the ideation and conceptualisation
skills to propose solutions to the challenges you hit along the
way.
Bringing Your Product to Market
- What do I need to know about IP?
Bringing a new product to market can be an exciting but stressful
time with so many aspects to consider, not least of all
whether or not it will be a success.
But one area that should be high on the “to do” list is considering
IP (Intellectual Property). And the earlier this is considered
the better.
Types of IP
We should perhaps firstly consider the key types of IP that may
be relevant to your product:
Patents
These protect technological advancement in products and
industrial processes that are inventive and not obvious. Key to
being able to protect your product via patent is that you must
not have made your idea/product/invention public before an
application is filed. This includes chatting to friends, looking
for investors, or talking to potential manufacturers. If those
conversations need to take place, a good non-disclosure
agreement (NDA) is strongly advisable. And if you are still in
the product development stage, running a few checks on what
patents already exist may help you avoid conflict, and can help
direct your development work so that what you put into the
market is truly new.
Designs
Design registration is often overlooked but can provide very
valuable protection. A registered design protects product
appearance only, not any technical function, and can cover
shape, configuration, pattern or ornamentation. Seeking
patent protection does not exclude you from also seeking
design protection, and many Intellectual Property Offices, such
as the UK, allow you to register a number of variants of a
design at the same time at very little additional cost.
Design registration can also be the IP right of choice if your
product doesn’t qualify for patent protection but you have put
effort into creating a beautiful product.
Trade Marks
These protect the brand elements you decide on for your
product, and most commonly include names, logos and
slogans, and more unusually can include colours, sounds and
shapes.
When choosing a brand name it is advisable to undertake
checks to see if the name is already taken, and more specifically
already protected, so that unnecessary conflicts can be
avoided with the owners of registered trade marks. A trade
mark registration provides the right to take action against use
of something the same, or so similar that consumers will get
confused.
Developments in IP
Brexit
Brexit for many will have a significant impact on IP rights, in
particular trade marks and designs, as these can be protected
through special EU wide systems. Of course Brexit negotiations
are ongoing, but all parties are working towards
ensuring that existing registered EU rights will continue to
have effect in the UK, minimising the impact on business
owners who have feared having to re-register rights. The
draft withdrawal agreement provides provision for this,
although the position may be more complicated for rights
which are still pending at the point of Brexit and this is still the
subject of lobbying.
International Design Protection
In June this year the UK became an active signatory to an
International convention which allows for the cost effective
protection of designs in a number of countries. Previously UK
businesses could only use this system, referred to as the
Hague system, by virtue of the UK’s membership of the EU.
Separate membership by the UK is an important step ahead
of Brexit.
Trade Secrets
The UK now recognises “trade secrets” as a specific type of
IP right. This is as a result of an EU Directive, with the
implementing law in the UK coming into force on 9 June this
year. The most famous trade secret is perhaps the Coca Cola
recipe. So if you have an internal process that is confidential,
or a recipe for a formulation or product, then a trade secret
may be for you. There must be some commercial value to it,
it must still be secret, and you must take measures to ensure
it stays secret to be afforded the protection that the law now
specifies.
An understanding of the IP rights in your product can help
drive the success of your product. A Chartered Trade Mark
Attorney or Chartered Patent Attorney will be able to assist to
ensure that you get the most out of the IP system for your
business.
Innovation key to business success
Ambition, knowledge and innovation are at the heart of
Wales’ approach to economic development, making it an
attractive and exciting place to invest. Knowledge drives
innovation, innovation drives productivity and productivity
drives growth.
Innovation is what turns ideas into profits; it helps
businesses become more competitive, increase sales
and tap into new markets. Well-planned and executed
research and development can bear significant rewards
and benefits for businesses. It can open up new markets,
boost sales in existing ones and increase profitability. It
could also, however, be challenging: fully developing an
idea and taking it to market could be time-consuming and
requires investment in resources, people and expertise.
Innovation support to Welsh SMEs
For SMEs in Wales, help is at hand. Business Wales
inspires and helps businesses to innovate and develop
new products and services; proactively engage in trade
within the UK and overseas; upskill staff and ensure fair
working conditions and environmental sustainability.
Business Wales is freely available and accessible to
every start-up or SME in Wales and provides support at
every step of their innovation journey. With an experienced
Motion Rail launch a Virtual Reality project
to improve rail safety for children and
workers
Founded in 2009, Motion Rail Ltd provides specialist railway
communication services nationwide on Network Rail and London
Overground infrastructure.
Working in partnership with the EU funded CEMET (Centre of
Excellence in Mobile and Emerging Technologies), part of the
University of South Wales (USW), and following support and
advice from Business Wales, Motion Rail were able to produce a
virtual reality system that can give users a safe way to learn
about the dangers posed by railways.
With 1,150 level crossings in Wales and the border counties, and
20,000 miles of track in the UK, there are many areas that pose
serious dangers to railway users, be it pedestrians, motorists or
workers. Initially, the pioneering virtual reality technology, which
has been endorsed by Network Rail, was developed for training
railway workers on how to manage the hazardous environments
while working on or near the tracks.
Steve explains: “It was clear from the outset of my work with
Motion Rail that they had an interesting and extremely useful
product that could have a huge impact on the way safety is taught
within the rail network. They are a team that believes passionately
in the difference they can make. The fact they are now
engaged with Network Rail is extremely positive and I’m delighted
Business Wales has played a part in that success.”
Interview with Kelli Aspland, Solar Buddies
How did you go about setting up the business and
developing your idea/where or who did you
approach for support and help?
How did you spot the opportunity for
innovation in your market sector/area?
Both our children were having issues applying their
sunscreen whilst in school and their teachers being
unable to assist them due to no touch policies in place.
With a quick look we realised there was nothing on the
market to help our children apply sunscreen in a
controlled and mess free manner. This then opened up
the idea of actually trying to develop something
ourselves, which took a lot more work and time than we
had originally thought!
Neither Laura nor I had experience of developing a product from
scratch so we reached out to Cardiff Metropolitan University’s
Product Design Department to see if they could help us turn our
ideas into something more professional. Without the help of the
University we may never have succeeded, so we always give
them the recognition they deserve with being part of our Solar
Buddies journey.
We decided to seek help from Business Wales to help us
understand what was needed from us to start our business up
but we soon realised that we needed a more tailored business
consultation. We had to seek IP lawyers and we needed to
understand the regulations about selling a product to consumers
so there was no single place that could give us all of the advice
we needed.
6
TORFAEN BUSINESS VOICE | AUGUST 2018 NEWSLETTER
What was the biggest challenge you faced?
I think the biggest challenge was taking an idea and turning
it into the working product. It’s all well and good thinking of
an idea but to actually bring it to life was very difficult, especially
when you have no experience in product design.
That’s aside from the knowledge we had to develop of IP
and what was needed to protect our idea: sometimes it was
enough to make us stop and question whether we could
actually do this and complete the challenge we set
ourselves. With grit and determination we worked relentlessly
to learn all we needed to to get this off the ground.
Is there anything you would do differently in
hindsight?
Looking back on everything both Laura and I have done
over this last 7 years since starting Solar Buddies, I can
honestly say no to this question. Neither of us has business
background, let alone inventing a product that’s now
turning a profit. When you have no experience, everything
you do is a learning curve. I do not believe there is a wrong
way of doing anything when it comes to business but you
have to learn and adapt to suit your business. You will
always face challenges and make mistakes along the way
but as long as you learn and improve then you can build a
fantastic business.
What advice would you give a would be new
business/innovator?
Don’t be afraid! You will never know if your idea will work if
you don’t try. Failing is learning and just means you alter
your path. Before you waste time, energy, money, blood,
sweat and tears on bringing your product to life, do your
research. Make sure there is a market, make sure people
will buy your product and there is a genuine need for your
idea. You do not want to jump straight in and waste time
and money on an idea that no one will buy. Find your
market, do your research and then go for it when you’re
confident you have the green light.
Why do you think innovation is important in
today’s economic climate?
To ensure growth in any business, changing and moving
with the times and your competition is vital. There are
OCTOBER
always problems in the world that need solving especially
with advances in technology. New innovation means new
businesses, which in turn create new jobs helping economic
growth. Innovation inspires people’s creativity and
problem solving ability and we believe it’s really important
that schools nurture this talent in our children. Inspire to
create, to flourish!
What has been your proudest moment?
Now this is a hard one. I am proud of both of us for
overcoming the hurdles we have. We’ve also won three
awards and to be recognised for our achievements by
other businesses and credible award bodies has meant the
world to us. To have our business and product recognised
is truly gratifying.
Capital Valley Plastics: Innovation Case Study
Capital Valley Plastics was founded in 1987, we manufacture
polythene films and membranes for the construction
industry. Initially running one blown film production line
producing damp-proof membrane the company has
expanded considerably over the years.
We currently run four blown film lines, with a fifth being
installed at the moment, and a cast line. Our product range
has also grown considerably, we now manufacture three
thicknesses of Damp-proof membrane, Damp-proof
course, vapour control layers, temporary protective sheet
and a range of gas barrier membranes and DPC’s.
Construction methods and British Standards are always
evolving and being updated, this means we must make
changes and develop new products to stay relevant in our
market.
Due to the increase in multi-storey houses being built we
developed our Radbar High Performance DPC, a specifically
engineered DPC to cope with the additional load from
a multi-storey building. The increase in developing land
where ground gases such as radon, methane and carbon
dioxide are present resulted in our development of the
Radbar Radon, Amber 1 and Amber 2 Foil Barriers.
These high spec membranes protect future inhabitants
from the potential hazard presented by the ground gases.
Our most recent product development is the Radbar
Flexible Hydrocarbon membrane. This was the first and is
still the only BBA certified hydrocarbon membrane. The
development of this product resulted in us winning the
Excellence in Innovation award at the 2017 Monmouthshire
Business Awards.
2018 has seen another expansion, this time into polythene
recycling. We have opened a 35,000 square foot recycling
facility on the Kays and Kears Industrial estate in
Blaenavon. We are on target to recycle 9000 tonnes of
waste polythene packaging this year, with every gram
being used to manufacture our 100% recycled DPM’s and
DPC’s.
These changes and expansions have enabled Capital
Valley Plastics to gain market share year on year, meet our
existing customers demands and attract new customers on
a regular basis. We place product development and
innovation at the heart of the business.
What do you do if you can’t get the job you want? Create your
own!
My journey started many years ago when, at the tender age of
18 and wanting to work with children, I was told I was too
clever to study Nursery Nursing so, grudgingly, off to Uni I
went to become a teacher. Not surprisingly after 6 months I
had dropped out and found myself working as a Nursery
Assistant for a year in a Day Nursery where I was told I wasn’t
qualified enough to do much other than nappy changing and
tidying up!
Frustrated, I decided the only way to get the job I wanted was
to open my own Nursery. I left Day Care to become a Civil
Servant, working for the Dept of Work and Pensions for 5
years where I learnt customer service, admin (and how to take
a great deal of abuse and still smile). After 5 years I thought
‘What have I got to lose?’ so, with my savings and a wonderful
start up grant off Chwarae Teg I opened my first Day Care
Nursery in Pontypool.
Osbourne Lodge Nursery was opened over 20 years ago and
we have gone from strength to strength, winning wonderful
awards and collecting the most fabulous staff along the way.
Clare & Lisa, my Manager and Deputy have worked at the
Nursery since we opened and many other staff have been with
us for 8 – 11 years.
Since opening I have been able to gain my qualifications in
Child Care to Level 5 and studied hard to also learn accounting,
payroll and how to run a team of staff. Starting off very
small helped the learning process of becoming an entrepreneur,
as we grew my experience grew with it.
At one stage I was running two Nurseries as well as helping to
run our 2 family shops selling fancy dress and partyware, and
managing a small soft play centre. The birth of my child
slowed things down considerably, downsizing to just the one
Nursery in Pontypool.
I love being a hands on part of the Nursery and look forward to
going to work each day. We care for children from birth until
they enter school so there is always fun happening just
beyond my office. For the last few years I have been Chair of
our local network of Day Care Nurseries, helping to support
other Nurseries from Newport to Blaenavon, and meeting
other owners from all over Wales to help shape childcare
policies and meeting with Ministers.
Based in Pontypool town centre, we have the added benefit of
being very much part of the community, taking part in many
events and even organising a few as Chair of Friends of
Pontypool Town.
It may have taken a few years but I really did create my dream
job!
o’n 6 digwyddiad trwy gydol 2018 a 2019 ynghyd â chael eich
cynnwys yn y cyfeiriadur busnes, gwybodaeth am ddigwyddiadau
eraill, brecwastau a digwyddiadau cymdeithasol yr ydym
yn eu cefnogi ac wrth gwrs, cyfle i gwrdd â busnesau newydd
a gwneud cysylltiadau newydd.
Fel sy’n arferol bydd digon o gyfle i rwydweithio’n ffurfiol ac yn
anffurfiol.
Mae croeso i chi ddod â gwestai gyda’ch ail docyn i roi cyfle
iddyn nhw i ymuno â’r grŵp oherwydd po fwyaf y wynebau
Meddwl Dylunio Strategol
Mae gan ddylunio rôl hanfodol i'w chwarae mewn newyddbethau
gan nad yw arloesi yn canolbwyntio'n unig ar dechnoleg
a chael ei yrru gan Ymchwil a Datblygu, ond yn gynyddol
mae'n ymwneud â gwasanaethau, profiad y defnyddiwr a'r
gymdeithas.
Cydnabyddir yn eang fod dod â dylunwyr at y bwrdd mewn
prosesau arloesi cynnar yn gwneud gwahaniaeth hanfodol. I
fusnesau sy'n cychwyn, mae dylunio strategol yn helpu i gael
syniadau gwych i'r farchnad gywir. I fusnesau sefydledig,
mae'n eu helpu i ailosod neu ehangu eu cynnig yn unol â
hynny.
Mae gan feddwl dylunio strategol un nod unigol: deall a
datrys problem i'w ddefnyddiwr. Mae'r genhedlaeth bresennol
o ddefnyddwyr wedi datblygu anoddefiad am annilysrwydd-
sy'n golygu bod angen i frandiau newid eu meddwl o'r
traddodiadol i'r meddylgar er mwyn cadw ar y blaen.
Mae “Meddwl Dylunio” yn cael ei dderbyn yn eang fel methodoleg
datrys problemau creadigol y gellir ei gymhwyso i
feysydd y tu hwnt i’r dylunio a ystyriwyd yn draddodiadol.
Mae'r "diemwnt dylunio" yn dangos meddwl dylunio fel
proses linellol sydd â chyfnodau cyfnodau archwilio, a
chyfnodau gwneud penderfyniadau cydgyfeiriol sy'n hwyluso'r
ymagwedd ar gyfer ymarferwyr busnes a rheoli yn beno-
JULY - AUGUST
dol. Mewn gwirionedd, anaml y mae ymchwilwyr dylunio yn
SEPTEMBER
cymryd agwedd sy'n wirioneddol linellol fel y mae'r diemwnt
dwbl yn eich arwain i feddwl, fodd bynnag nid yw'n newid y
teimlad craidd o 'ddylunio meddwl' fel strategaeth datrys
Manufacturing
problemau a'r ffaith bod cael empathi gyda'ch rhanddeiliaid
yn arwain at atebion gwell.
Yn PDR, rydym yn defnyddio cyfuniad o ddulliau ymchwil
marchnad a defnyddwyr, sgiliau dadansoddi a meddwl, a
syniadaeth i ddod o hyd i atebion arloesol i broblemau
cymhleth. OCTOBER Mae fwyfwy o'r problemau y cysylltir â ni yn eu
cylch yn rhai y byddem yn eu cyfri'n 'strategol'. Yn hytrach
na'r "dylunio cynnyrch / gwasanaeth sy'n....." penodol a
chyfredol, rydyn ni'n aml yn wynebu problemau amwys ac
sy'n seiliedig ar y dyfodol, fel "beth ddylem ni ei wneud mewn
5/10/20 mlynedd?"
Pa rôl sydd gan Ymchwil Defnyddwyr mewn Dylunio Strategaeth?
Bydd dadansoddi tueddiad a marchnad ochr yn ochr â chasglu dealltwriaeth o dechnolegau a chyd-destunau yn y dyfodol trwy
gyfweliadau gydag arbenigwyr ac adolygu llenyddiaeth bresennol yn rhoi cipolwg ar ddyfodol y mae'n rhaid i fusnes o bosib,
weithredu ynddo. Fodd bynnag, nid yw hyn yn ddigon i'r rhan fwyaf ddatblygu strategaeth gydlynol. Mae cwestiynau'n parhau o
gwmpas pa gyfleoedd y mae'r fath ddyfodol yn eu cyflwyno, lle mae'r sefyllfa orau i'r busnes yn y fath ddyfodol, a sut ydyn ni'n
cyrraedd y pwynt hwn?
CYLCHLYTHYR (CLWB) LLAIS BUSNES TORFAEN | AWST 2018 3
Dyma ble mae Ymchwil Defnyddwyr yn chwarae rhan
hanfodol wrth ddiffinio, neu'n hytrach, dylunio strategaeth,
trwy ein galluogi i:
• Ddeall y cyfleoedd y mae senarios y dyfodol yn eu
cyflwyno.
• Help ni i gynllunio’r llwybr.
Deall anghenion y
Defnyddiwr
Er y bydd rhyngweithiadau cynnyrch yn newid dros amser,
pan fyddwch chi'n edrych ar anghenion a gwerthoedd y
defnyddiwr yn fanwl, prin yw'r cyfyngiadau hyn i dechnoleg
neu linell amser..
I ddeall y rhain, rhaid inni gymryd agwedd fwy creadigol at yr
ymchwil ei hun a'r dadansoddiad ohoni. Nid yw treialon
defnyddwyr a metrigau penodol o unrhyw ddefnydd yma. Yn
lle hynny, bydd dulliau megis ethnograffeg, profion diwylliannol
a gemau dylunio yn rhoi mewnwelediad llawer dyfnach o
werthoedd y defnyddiwr.
Unwaith y deallir gwerthoedd y defnyddiwr, gellir mapio'r
rhain ar ddyfodol posibl a'u his-gydrannau: technoleg,
amgylcheddau a chyd-destunau defnydd. Bydd hyn yn llywio
diweddnod a chyfeiriad strategaeth a bydd yn symud y
marciwr o 'ddyfodol posibl' i 'ddyfodol arfaethedig' wedi'i
ddylunio
Deall y Presennol
Fel y bydd unrhyw un sy’n cyflawni’n uchel yn dweud wrthych,
mae nod yn ddefnyddiol os oes dealltwriaeth glir o'r man
cychwyn, a hynny'n unig. Dylid ystyried Dyluniad Strategaeth
fel cynllun diffiniedig i gyflawni'r nod hwnnw ac mae dealltwriaeth
o'r presennol felly'n hanfodol i ganfod y cydrannau coll a'r
datblygiadau gofynnol i symud o'r presennol i'r dyfodol.
Gall yr anghenion a'r gwerthoedd a ddarganfuwyd yn flaenorol
greu fframwaith i ymchwilio'r presennol. Defnyddir dulliau
Ymchwil Defnyddwyr fel ymholiadau, cyfweliadau a dyddiaduron
yn y cyd-destun wedyn i ddeall yr hyn mae'r sefyllfa’n
caniatáu ar hyn o bryd, neu'n rhwystro'r defnyddiwr i wireddu eu
hanghenion a'u gwerthoedd. Mae hyn yn diffinio man cychwyn
y daith, y presennol, a gallwn wedyn egluro'r camau sydd eu
hangen i symud ar hyd y llwybr.
Heb amheuaeth, mi fydd y llwybr hwn yn heriol - os nad oes
unrhyw heriau, yna nid oes rheswm iddo fod yn 'ddyfodol
arfaethedig' yn hytrach na 'phresennol arfaethedig'! Dyma ble
gall sgiliau dylunio traddodiadol a chysyniadau mwy traddodiadol
helpu i ddarparu newyddbethau ac atebion i'r heriau hyn.
Wrth gwrs, bydd y cysyniadau hyn yn cael eu llywio gan yr holl
ymchwil a ddaeth o'i flaen: dealltwriaeth ddofn o'r defnyddiwr a'r
ymchwil eilaidd o ran technolegau, amgylcheddau a
chyd-destunau defnydd yn y dyfodol.
Yn PDR, mae'r tîm yn cynnwys ystod eang o bobl ag amrywiaeth
o arbenigedd sy'n golygu y gallwn ymdrin â chwmpas yr holl
sgiliau ymchwil a dadansoddi sydd eu hangen i ddylunio strategaeth,
a bod gennym ni hefyd y sgiliau o ran syniad a chysyniadau
i gynnig atebion i'r heriau y byddwch yn eu hwynebu ar
hyd y ffordd.
Dod â’ch Cynnyrch i’r Farchnad
- Beth sydd angen fi wybod am ED?
Gall dod â chynnyrch newydd i’r farchnad fod yn gyffrous ond
hefyd yn straen gyda chymaint o bethau i’w hystyried ac nid y
lleiaf o’r rhai yw a fydd yn llwyddiant.
Ond un maes a ddylai fod yn agos at frig y rhestr yw ystyried
ED (Eiddo Deallusol). A gorau po gyntaf y byddwch yn ystyried
hyn.
Mathau o ED
Dylem ystyried yn gyntaf y mathau allweddol o ED a allai fod yn
berthnasol i’ch cynnyrch:
Patentau
Mae’r rhain yn diogelu datblygiadau technolegol mewn cynnyrch
a phrosesau diwydiannol sy’n ddyfeisgar ond nid yn amlwg.
Rhywbeth allweddol yng nghyd-destun diogelu’ch cynnyrch
trwy batent yw na ddylech fod wedi gwneud eich syniad/cynnyrch/dyfais
yn gyhoeddus cyn cyflwyno cais. Mae hyn yn
cynnwys sgwrsio gyda ffrindiau, chwilio am fuddsoddwyr neu
drafod gyda gweithgynhyrchwyr posibl. Os oes rhaid i’r sgyrsiau
yna ddigwydd, mae’n syniad da cael cytundeb dim datgelu
cryf. Ac os ydych dal yn y cyfnod o ddatblygu’r cynnyrch, gallai
wirio pa batentau sy’n bodoli eisoes eich helpu i osgoi gwrthdaro,
a’ch helpu i gyfeirio eich gwaith datblygu fel y gallwch roi
rhywbeth gwirioneddol newydd i mewn i’r farchnad.
Dyluniadau
Yn aml mae cofrestru dyluniadau yn cael ei anwybyddu ond
gall gynnig diogelwch gwerthfawr iawn. Mae dyluniad cofrestredig
yn diogelu gwedd a golwg y cynnyrch yn unig, nid
unrhyw bwrpas technegol, a gall gynnwys siâp, cyfluniad,
patrwm neu addurniadau. Nid yw ceisio am ddiogelwch patent
yn eich rhwystro rhag ceisio diogelwch dyluniad, ac mae nifer
o Swyddfeydd Eiddo Deallusol, fel y DU, yn caniatáu i chi
gofrestru nifer o amrywiaethau o ddyluniad ar yr un pryd heb
fawr o gost ychwanegol.
Gall cofrestriad dyluniad hefyd fod y dewis cywir ar gyfer ED os
nad yw eich cynnyrch yn gymwys ar gyfer diogelwch patent
ond rydych wedi rhoi ymdrech i mewn i greu cynnyrch hyfryd.
Nodau Masnach
Mae’r rhain yn diogelu’r elfennau brand yr ydych yn penderfynu
arnyn nhw ar gyfer eich cynnyrch, ac yn gyffredin mae’n
cynnwys enwau, logos a sloganau, ac yn fwy anarferol gall
gynnwys lliwiau, synau a siapau.
Wrth ddewis enw ar y brand mae’n syniad da chwilio i weld a
yw’r enw eisoes yn bod, ac yn fwy penodol a yw wedi ei
ddiogelu eisoes, fel y gellir osgoi unrhyw wrthdaro gyda
pherchnogion nodau masnach cofrestredig. Mae cofrestriad
nod masnach yn rhoi’r hawl i gymryd camau yn erbyn defnydd
o rywbeth yr un peth, neu mor debyg nes y bydd defnyddwyr yn
drysu.
Datblygiadau mewn ED
Brexit
Bydd Brexit yn cael effaith sylweddol ar hawliau ED i lawer, yn
arbennig nodau masnach a dyluniadau, gan y gall y rhain gael
eu diogelu trwy systemau arbennig ar draws yr UE. Wrth gwrs
mae trafodaethau Brexit yn dal i fynd ymlaen, ond mae’r
partïon i gyd yn gweithio tuag at sicrhau y bydd hawliau sydd
wedi eu cofrestru yn yr UE eisoes yn parhau i fod mewn grym
yn yr UE, gan leihau’r effaith ar berchnogion busnesau sydd
wedi ofni y byddai’n rhaid iddyn nhw ail-gofrestru eu hawliau.
Mae’r cytundeb drafft ar dynnu allan yn darparu ar gyfer hyn,
er gall y sefyllfa fod yn fwy cymhleth ar gyfer hawliau sydd dal
ar y gweill ar adeg Brexit ac mae trafodaethau’n parhau ar
hyn.
Diogelwch Dyluniad Rhyngwladol
Ym Mehefin eleni daeth y DU yn rhan o gytundeb rhyngwladol
sy’n caniatáu diogelwch cost effeithiol dyluniadau mewn nifer o
wledydd. O’r blaen, gallai busnesau yn y DU ddefnyddio’r
system yna, system yr Hâg, oherwydd aelodaeth y DU o’r UE.
Mae aelodaeth ar wahân ar ran y DU yn gam pwysig cyn
Brexit.
Cyfrinachau Masnach
Mae DU nawr yn cydnabod “cyfrinachau masnach” fel math
penodol o hawl ED. Mae hyn oherwydd Cyfarwyddeb gan yr
UE, gyda’r gyfraith yn dod i rym yn y DU ar 9 Mehefin eleni. Y
gyfrinach fasnach fwyaf enwog, o bosibl, yw rysáit Coca Cola.
Felly os oes gennych chi broses fewnol sy’n gyfrinachol neu
rysáit ar gyfer fformwleiddiad neu gynnyrch, yna efallai mai
cyfrinach fasnach yw’r peth i chi. Rhaid bod yna werth
masnachol iddi, rhaid ei bod yn gyfrinach o hyd, a rhaid i chi
gymryd camau i sicrhau ei fod yn aros yn gyfrinach er mwyn
cael diogelwch gan y gyfraith.
Gall dealltwriaeth o’r hawliau ED sy’n berthnasol i’ch cynnyrch
helpu at lwyddiant eich cynnyrch. Gall Atwrnai Nodau
Masnach Siartredig neu Atwrnai Patent Siartredig eich helpu i
sicrhau eich bod yn cael y gorau i’ch busnes allan o’r system
ED.
JANUARY
Busnes Cymru: Arloesedd yn allweddol i lwyddiant busnes
Mae uchelgais, deallusrwydd ac arloesedd wrth galon dull
gweithredu Cymru mewn perthynas â datblygu economaidd,
gan ei gwneud yn le atyniadol a chyffrous i
fuddsoddi. Mae gwybodaeth yn hybu arloesedd, mae
arloesedd yn hybu cynhyrchaeth a chynhyrchaeth yn hybu
twf.
Arloesedd sy’n newid syniadau yn elw; mae’n gymorth i
fusnesau ddod yn fwy cystadleuol, i gynyddu gwerthiant a
manteisio ar farchnadoedd newydd. Gall ymchwil a datblygiad
sydd wedi’u cynllunio a’u gweithredu’n dda ddod â
gwobrau a buddion sylweddol i fusnesau. Gallai agor
drysau i farchnadoedd newydd, hybu gwerthiannau mewn
marchnadoedd sy’n bod eisoes a chynyddu proffidioldeb.
Gallai hefyd, fodd bynnag, fod yn heriol: gall datblygu
syniad yn llawn a mynd ag ef i’r farchnad gymryd amser a
buddsoddiad mewn adnoddau, pobl ac arbenigedd.
Cefnogaeth Arloesedd i BBaCh Cymru
I BBaCh yng Nghymru, mae cymorth wrth law. Mae
Busnes Cymru yn ysbrydoli a chynorthwyo busnesau i
arloesi a datblygu cynnyrch a gwasanaethau newydd;
ymgysylltu’n rhagweithiol mewn masnach o fewn y DU a
thramor; uwchsgilio staff a sicrhau amodau gweithio teg a
chynaliadwyedd amgylcheddol.
Mae Busnes Cymru ar gael am ddim ac yn hygyrch i bob
busnes newydd neu BBaCh yng Nghymru ac yn darparu
cefnogaeth ym mhob cam o’u taith arloesedd. Gyda thîm
profiadol o ymgynghorwyr busnes ac arbenigwyr twf, gall
eich cynorthwyo chi ddatblygu eich syniadau, trafod eu
dichonoldeb, archwilio opsiynau am gyllid, masnacheiddio
cynnyrch newydd, symleiddio prif lif a’ch cyfeirio chi at
gefnogaeth arbenigol bellach i’ch galluogi chi greu perthnasau
hir dymor.
Busnes Cymru yn cynorthwyo busnes Motion
Rail o Gymru i lansio eu prosiect Rhith Wirionedd
i wella diogelwch ar y cledrau i blant a
gweithwyr
Wedi’i sefydlu yn 2009, darpara Motion Rail Cyf. wasanaethau
cyfathrebu rheilffordd arbenigol yn genedlaethol ar isadeiledd
Network Rail a rheilffyrdd Uwchddaearol Llundain.
Gan weithio mewn partneriaeth â CEMET (Y Ganolfan Ragoriaeth
mewn Technolegau Symudol a Datblygol) a ariennir gan yr
UE, rhan o Brifysgol De Cymru (USW), ac yn dilyn cefnogaeth a
chyngor gan Fusnes Cymru, gallodd Motion Rail gynhyrchu
system rith wirionedd sy’n rhoi ffordd ddiogel i ddefnyddwyr i
ddysgu ynghylch peryglon rheilffyrdd.
Gyda 1,150 o groesfannau rheilffordd yng Nghymru a’r siroedd ar
y ffin, a 20,000 milltir o reilffordd yn y DU, mae nifer o ardaloedd
sy’n peri peryglon difrifol i ddefnyddwyr y rheilffordd, boed yn
gerddwyr, modurwyr neu weithwyr. I ddechrau, datblygwyd y
dechnoleg rith wirionedd arloesol, sydd wedi’i chymeradwyo gan
Network Rail, i hyfforddi gweithwyr y rheilffordd ynghylch sut i
reoli amgylcheddau peryglus wrth weithio ar y cledrau neu wrth
eu hymyl.
Eglura Steve: “Roedd hi’n amlwg o gychwyn cyntaf fy ngwaith
gyda Motion Rail bod ganddynt gynnyrch diddorol a hynod
ddefnyddiol a allai gael effaith enfawr ar sut yr addysgir diogelwch
o fewn y rhwydwaith rheilffordd. Maent yn dîm sy’n credu’n
angerddol yn y gwahaniaeth y gallent ei wneud. Mae’r ffaith eu
bod nawr yn ymgysylltiedig â Network Rail yn hynod gadarnhaol
ac rwy’n falch bod Busnes Cymru wedi cymryd rhan yn y llwyddiant
hwnnw.”
Cyfweliad gyda Kelli Aspland, Solar Buddies
Sut aethoch ati i sefydlu’r busnes a datblygu eich
syniad / i ble’r aethoch neu pwy gysylltoch chi â
nhw am gymorth a help?
Sut welsoch chi’r cyfle i arloesi yn eich sector/maes
marchnad?
Roedd ein plant yn cael trafferthion yn defnyddio eli haul
yn yr ysgol ac nid oedd athrawon yn medru eu helpu
oherwydd y polisi dim cyffwrdd, ac roedd hyn yn gwneud
tasg bwysig iawn i’r plant yn un anodd. Ar ôl ychydig o
waith ymchwil cyflym, roeddem yn sylweddoli nad oedd
unrhyw beth a fyddai’n datrys y broblem a chaniatáu i’r
plant ddefnyddio’r eli haul yn hawdd a heb wneud llanastr.
Arweiniodd hyn at geisio datblygu rhywbeth ein hunain a
gymerodd lawer mwy o waith ac ymdrech nag a dybiwyd
ar y dechrau!
Nid oedd gan Laura na minnau brofiad o ddatblygu cynnyrch o’r
cychwyn un ac felly mi wnaethon ni gysylltu gydag Adran
Ddylunio Prifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd i weld os medrent
helpu i droi’n syniadau yn rhywbeth mwy proffesiynol. Heb eu
help nhw, ni fyddai erioed wedi digwydd ac felly rydym bob
amser yn rhoi’r gydnabyddiaeth maent yn ei haeddu iddyn nhw
am fod yn rhan o’n taith Solar Buddies.
Penderfynwyd gofyn am help gan Fusnes Cymru, i’n helpu i
ddeall beth oedd ei angen i sefydlu’r busnes ond buan y
sylweddolwyd bod angen ymgynghorwyr busnes a oedd yn fwy
addas i’n hanghenion ni. Roedd angen cael cyfreithwyr IP ac
roedd angen deall y rheoliadau a oedd yn ymwneud â gwerthu
cynnyrch i ddefnyddwyr felly nid oedd un lle a fedrai roi i ni’r
cyngor roedd ei angen arnom.
CYLCHLYTHYR (CLWB) LLAIS BUSNES TORFAEN | AWST 2018
Beth oedd yr her fwyaf?
Rwy’n meddwl mai’r her fwyaf oedd cymryd syniad a’i droi
yn gynnyrch a oedd yn gweithio. Mae’n un peth cael
syniad, ond roedd ei gyflawni yn anodd iawn, yn enwedig
pan nad oedd gennym unrhyw brofiad o ddylunio cynnyrch.
A hefyd dysgu am eiddo deallusol a’r hyn roedd ei angen i
amddiffyn ein syniad: weithiau roedd yn ddigon i wneud i ni
stopio a holi os medrwn ni wneud hyn a chwblhau’r her
roeddem wedi ei rhoi i ni ein hunain? Gyda phenderfyniad,
buom yn gweithio’n ddiddiwedd i ddysgu popeth roedd
angen i ni ei ddysgu, i wireddu hyn.
Oes yna unrhyw beth y buasech yn ei wneud
yn wahanol, wrth edrych yn ôl?
Gan edrych yn ôl ar bopeth y mae Laura a minnau wedi ei
gyflawni dros y 7 mlynedd ddiwethaf ers cychwyn Solar
Buddies, rhaid i mi, yn onest, ddweud na. Nid oes gan yr un
ohonom gefndir busnes, heb sôn am ddyfeisio cynnyrch a’i
droi yn fusnes proffidiol. Pan nad oes gennych brofiad,
mae popeth yn golygu dysgu. Nid wyf yn credu bod ffordd
anghywir o wneud pethau mewn busnes, ond rhaid i chi
ddysgu ac addasu i siwtio eich busnes. Byddwch wastad
yn wynebu heriau ac yn gwneud camgymeriadau ar y
ffordd, ond cyn belled â’ch bod yn dysgu a gwella, yna
medrwch adeiladu busnes gwych.
Beth ydych chi fwyaf balch ohono?
Mae hwn yn gwestiwn anodd. Rwy’n falch o Laura a
minnau oherwydd y rhwystrau rydym wedi eu goresgyn.
Rydym hefyd wedi ennill ac mae cael ein cydnabod am ein
llwyddiannau gan fusnesau eraill a chyrff dyfarnu credadwy
wedi golygu popeth i ni. Mae cael cydnabod ein busnes a’n
cynnyrch yn deimlad gwych.
Pa gyngor fuasech yn ei roi i fusnes/arloeswr
newydd ?
Peidiwch â bod ofn! Dydych chi byth yn gwybod os bydd
eich syniad yn gweithio os nad ydych yn rhoi cynnig arni.
Mae methu yn golygu dysgu ac yn golygu eich bod yn
cymryd llwybr newydd. Cyn i chi wastraffu amser, egni,
arian, gwaed, chwys a dagrau ar wireddu eich cynnyrch,
gwnewch eich gwaith ymchwil. Gwnewch yn siŵr bod yna
farchnad a gwnewch yn siŵr y bydd pobl yn prynu eich
cynnyrch a bod angen gwirioneddol am eich syniad.
Dydych chi ddim eisiau neidio i mewn a gwastraffu amser
ac arian ar gynnyrch na fydd neb yn ei brynu. Felly, cael
hyd i’ch marchnad, gwneud eich ymchwil ac yna mynd
amdani pan fydd y golau gwyrdd yn dangos.
Pam ydych chi’n meddwl bod arloesi yn
bwysig yn hinsawdd economaidd heddiw?
I sicrhau twf mewn unrhyw fusnes, mae newid a symud
gyda’r amser a’ch cystadleuwyr yn hanfodol. Mae bob
OCTOBER
amser broblemau yn y byd sydd angen eu datrys, yn
enwedig gyda datblygiadau mewn technoleg. Mae arloesi
yn golygu busnesau newydd, sydd yn eu tro yn creu swyddi
gan helpu twf economaidd. Mae arloesi yn ysbrydoli
creadigrwydd pobl a’u gallu i ddatrys problemau, ac rydym
yn credu ei bod yn bwysig iawn bod ysgolion yn meithrin
hyn yn ein plant. Ysbrydoli i greu, i ffynnu!
Capital Valley Plastics: Astudiaeth Achos
Cafodd Capital Valley Plastics ei sylfaenu ym 1987; rydym
yn gweithgynhyrchu ffilm a philenni polythen ar gyfer y
diwydiant adeiladu. Gan ddechrau gyda rhedeg un llinell
gynhyrchu ffilm chwyth yn cynhyrchu pilenni rhag lleithder,
mae’r cwmni wedi ehangu’n sylweddol dros y blynyddoedd.
Rydym ar hyn o bryd yn rhedeg pedair llinell ffilm chwyth,
gyda phumed yn cael ei gosod ar hyn o bryd, a llinell gastio.
Mae ein hamrediad o gynhyrchion hefyd wedi cynyddu’n
sylweddol; rydym nawr yn cynhyrchu tri thrwch o bilen
gwrth-leithder, cwrs gwrth-leithder, haenau rheoli tarth,
haenau amddiffynnol dros dro ac amrediad o bilenni
rhwystr nwy a chyrsiau lleithder.
Mae dulliau adeiladu a Safonau Prydeinig yn newid ac yn
cael eu diweddaru drwy’r amser; mae hyn yn golygu bod
angen i ni wneud newidiadau a datblygu cynhyrchion
newydd er mwyn aros yn berthnasol i’n marchnad.
Oherwydd y cynnydd mewn tai aml-lawr sy’n cael eu hadeiladu,
rydym wedi datblygu ein cwrs lleithder Perfformiad
Uchel Radbar, cwrs lleithder wedi ei beiriannu’n benodol i
ymdopi gyda phwysau ychwanegol adeilad aml-lawr. Mae’r
cynnydd mewn datblygu tir lle mae nwyon daear megis
radon, methan a deuocsid carbon yn bresennol wedi
arwain at ddatblygu Rhwystrau Ffoil Radbar Radon, Amber
1 ac Amber 2. Mae’r pilenni manyldeb uchel hyn yn
amddiffyn deiliaid y dyfodol rhag peryglon posibl yn deillio
o’r nwyon daear.
Y cynnyrch rydym wedi ei ddatblygu yn fwyaf diweddar yw’r
bilen Hydrocarbon Hyblyg Radbar. Dyma’r bilen hydrocarbon
gyntaf, a’r unig un o hyd wedi ei hardystio gan y BBA.
Arweiniodd y datblygiad hwn ni i ennill y wobr Rhagoriaeth
mewn Arloesi yng Ngwobrau Busnes Sir Fynwy 2017.
Mae 2018 wedi gweld ehangu pellach, y tro hwn gydag
ailgylchu polythen. Rydym wedi agor cyfleustra 35,000
troedfedd sgwâr ar stad ddiwydiannol Kays a Kears ym
Mlaenafon. Rydym ar y ffordd i ailgylchu 9000 tunnell o
ddeunydd pecynnu gwastraff polythen eleni, gyda phob
gram yn cael ei ddefnyddio i weithgynhyrchu ein pilenni a’n
cyrsiau lleithder sydd 100% wedi eu hailgylchu.
Mae’r newidiadau hyn a’r ehangu wedi galluogi i Capital
Valley Plastics ennill mwy o’r farchnad flwyddyn ar ôl
blwyddyn, i ddiwallu gofynion ein cwsmeriaid a denu
cwsmeriaid newydd yn rheolaidd. Rydym yn rhoi arloesi a
datblygu cynhyrchion wrth graidd y busnes.
Cyfarfod yr
Aelod
Beth ydych chi’n ei wneud os na fedrwch gael y swydd rydych
ei heisiau? Creu eich swydd eich hun!
Dechreuodd fy nhaith lawer o flynyddoedd yn ôl pan roeddwn
yn 18 oed ac eisiau gweithio gyda phlant, pan ddywedwyd
wrthyf fy mod yn rhy glyfar i astudio i fod yn Weinyddes
Feithrin. Felly, i ffwrdd â mi i’r Brifysgol i ddod yn athrawes.
Doedd hi ddim yn llawer o syndod pan adawais ar ôl 6 mis a
chael fy hun yn gweithio fel Cynorthwyydd Meithrin am
flwyddyn mewn Meithrinfa Ddydd, lle dywedwyd wrthyf nad
oedd gennyf y cymwysterau i wneud llawer mwy na newid
cewynnau a thacluso!
Gan deimlo’n rhwystredig, penderfynais mai’r unig ffordd i gael
y swydd roeddwn ei heisiau oedd agor fy Meithrinfa fy hun.
Gadewais y maes Gofal Dydd i fod yn Was Sifil, gan weithio i’r
Adran Gwaith a Phensiynau am 5 mlynedd lle dysgais am
wasanaeth cwsmeriaid, gweinyddiaeth (a sut i gymryd llawer
iawn o gamdriniaeth a pharhau i wenu). Ar ôl 5 mlynedd,
meddyliais ‘Beth sydd gen i i’w golli?’ felly, gyda fy nghynilion
a grant cychwyn gwych gan Chwarae Teg, agorais fy Meithrinfa
Gofal Dydd gyntaf ym Mhont-y-pŵl.
Agorwyd Meithrinfa Osbourne Lodge dros ugain mlynedd yn
ôl, ac rydym wedi mynd o nerth i nerth, gan ennill gwobrau
gwych a chasglu’r staff mwyaf hynod ar y ffordd. Mae Clare a
Lisa, fy Rheolwr a’r Dirprwy, wedi gweithio yn y Feithrinfa ers i
ni agor, ac mae llawer o’r staff arall wedi bod gyda ni am 8-11
o flynyddoedd.
Hoffem ddiolch i'n cyfranwyr:
Ers agor, rwyf wedi cael fy nghymwysterau mewn Gofal Plant
i Lefel 5 ac wedi astudio’n galed i ddysgu cyfrifeg, trin cyflogau
a sut i redeg tîm o staff. Mae dechrau’n fach wedi helpu gyda’r
broses o ddysgu sut i ddod yn entrepreneur; wrth i ni dyfu,
mae fy mhrofiad i wedi cynyddu gyda’r busnes.
Ar un adeg, roeddwn yn rhedeg dwy Feithrinfa ynghyd â helpu
i redeg ein dwy siop deuluol, yn gwerthu gwisgoedd ffansi ac
offer parti, a rheoli canolfan chwarae meddal fechan. Arafodd
pethau pan gefais fy mhlentyn, gydag ond un Feithrinfa ym
Mhont-y-pŵl.
Rwyf wrth fy modd yn gweithio yn y Feithrinfa ac rwy’n edrych
ymlaen at fynd i’r gwaith bob dydd. Rydym yn gofalu am blant
o’u genedigaeth hyd at oedran ysgol, felly mae yna hwyl yn
digwydd bob amser y tu allan i’r swyddfa. Am yr ychydig
flynyddoedd diwethaf, rwyf wedi bod yn Gadeirydd ein
rhwydwaith lleol o feithrinfeydd Gofal Dydd, gan helpu i
gynorthwyo Meithrinfeydd eraill o Gasnewydd i Flaenafon, a
chyfarfod perchnogion eraill o bob cwr o Gymru i helpu i lunio
polisïau gofal plant a chyfarfod gyda Gweinidogion.
Gan ein bod wedi ein lleoli yng nghanol tref Pont-y-pŵl, mae
gennym y fantais ychwanegol o fod yn rhan o’r gymuned, gan
gymryd rhan mewn llawer o ddigwyddiadau a hyd yn oed
trefnu rhai fel Cadeirydd Cyfeillion Tref Pont-y-pŵl.
Mae wedi cymryd ychydig o flynyddoedd, efallai, ond rwyf
wirioneddol wedi creu swydd fy mreuddwydion!
