Wonders of the Orient _____
An evening in Aux Gazelles is a journey into another world. Oriental steam baths, the
tea salon, bars and a first-class restaurant make Aux Gazelles an oasis of relaxation and
indulgence in the heart of the city.
A
Actually, one should hardly dare to write about Aux Gazelles in a restaurant
guide, but where else should it be done? It basically defies any categorization.
Restaurant? Bar? Tea house? Steam bath? All of these together, perhaps.
But in fact it's still much more. A luxurious oasis of comfort and well-being
with an oriental flair minus the kitsch. A place to marvel at and feel comfortable, to
see and be seen, as much as to retreat and shut off from the hectic, everyday life. In
any case a location which has earned the title ‘unique’ perhaps more than any other
in Vienna.
The lavishly designed and elegant Hammam has probably contributed the most to
Aux Gazelles becoming an integral part of Viennese leisure and social life. There is
an entire array of relaxation and beauty treatments available - but never in a rush: two
hours should be allowed to be able to really enjoy the classic oriental steam bath. In
the three temperature zones (35°, 40° and 45°) your stay won't become a world record
steam bath and afterwards you'll have enough energy to be able to enjoy everything
else Aux Gazelles has to offer.
And there's plenty of that. For gourmet food lovers the Brasserie is a must.
Sumptuous different cuisines with French, Maghrebi and Arabic influences are combined
in an innovative restaurant concept. With choice wines, candlelight and a view
of the picturesque inner courtyard, unforgettable evenings can be enjoyed here.
In no way should the caviar and oyster bar be missed either. Here Aux Gazelles
also guarantees top-notch quality and freshness, as well as both modern and traditional
preparation.
And last but not least, if there's still a little time remaining, permit yourself another
half hour in the tea salon.
One particular highlight is ‘Orientation’, the weekly Oriental Urban Club Night in
Aux Gazelles. An event combining traditional Arabic hospitality and modern lifestyle
in an unparalleled way. As many as 1000 guests regularly enjoy the mixture of traditional
music and modern rhythms; a celebration in which belly-dancing is just as much
a part as is a pulsing beat. Sensuality, ecstasy, Romanticism and modern trends create
an incomparable total experience which should definitely not be missed.
