Cheese Company Exports To Canada
Carmarthenshire Cheese Company exported their first cheese
to Canada last week under a new deal through double Queens
Export Award cheese exporter Coombe Castle International
and then on into the Independent trade through the Tree of Life
organisation based in Toronto and Calgary.
Boksburg Blue and Boksburg Gold already have a strong
following in the UK and overseas but this moves things up a gear
for the Company with two orders already being shipped and
further orders already in the plan for January 2017.
Manufactured at the new Carmarthenshire Creamery
Llysonnen Road, Llanllwch, the Boksburg Blue and Gold range
of mould ripened cheeses has already attracted many fans and
industry awards since its launch and is a big hit with all blue
cheese lovers everywhere. Both cheeses are currently widely
stocked across Wales and are available from the creamery shop.
Steve and Sian Elin Peace, owners of Carmarthenshire Cheese
Company said;
“This is a really great result for us and something we have
been working towards for a few years. Working in partnership
with Coombe Castle International makes perfect sense for a
small business like ours, enabling us to easily ship to distant
markets like the US, Japan and now Canada”. U
Clam’s Handmade Cakes Launches New Range
Clam’s Handmade Cakes, the
supplier of award winning artisan
frozen and ambient cakes to
the food service market, has
launched a new and exciting
range of pre cut loaf cakes.
The cakes include, on trend
White Chocolate and Chia Seed,
Strawberry and Pistachio and
Banana and Cranberry.
Lewis Phillips Sales Manager said: The ability to pre cut our
handmade made loaf cakes, will become hugely beneficial to our
customers, we are now guaranteeing the same high quality handmade
cake whilst giving it a commercial edge by consistent portion sizes. The
flavours we have decided to go for are on trend and at the same time
original.
The handmade pre cut loaf cakes are available through a number
of wholesalers frozen or can be purchased ambient directly from the
Well the
festivities
are
over for
another year and we are
now looking forward
to the Easter break.
Visit Wales has finished
with its EPIC Year of
Adventure and has
decided to market Wales
as the Year of Legends.
They are proposing to
push the culture and
traditions of the Principality. At last they have realised that,
for the majority of tourists, this is what they come here for. My
concern is that somehow they will manage to make a pigs ear of
this. I find it hard to take them seriously after the rolling out of
the movable EPIC letters which they reckoned would be caught
on camera and posted on social media. I live here and never saw
them. Maybe they only appeared in north Wales! Visit Wales
has been congratulating itself on how successful their campaign
has been but they seem to have concentrated all their efforts in
north Wales. Will someone please inform the government that
there are other areas that are part of Wales such as the middle
and the south west. Mid Wales and the borders are rich in
culture and heritage. We have wonderful castles, scenery and
culture along with some weird and wacky experiences not all of
which reach the media department of Visit Wales. I urge those
of you out there who organise oddball events to contact them
and get your events there - but don't hold your breath! With the
pound so depressed we should be in a strong position to attract
more tourists on the basis that Wales represents a good value
destination with lots to offer and I sincerely hope that Visit Wales
will capitalise on this. We can but hope.
Life has been a bit difficult for me since Christmas when I
was diagnosed with right kidney failure and I am due to have it
removed any day now. Thankfully we are all equipped with two,
so losing one is no big deal. As they say, life goes on but mine
may have to slow down for a bit. My biggest concern is that I have
to have the operation at the Royal Gwent in Newport which is a
long way from my home in Llanwrtyd Wells. I am unlikely to get
many visitors as it is a long way to travel. I appreciate that Centres
of Excellence are a very good idea in theory, but if you live in
more remote parts of Wales this does pose logistical problems.
I had to be at the Royal Gwent for investigations at 7.30 one
morning. Hospital transport was not available so I had to make
my way to Newport the night before, pay for a hotel room for
the night and get a taxi to the hospital the next morning. I don't
know what the solution to this problem may be but for people
on a very tight budget this really is not a viable option. Do not
misunderstand me I am not knocking the N.H.S. in Wales. I
have nothing but admiration for the treatment I have received at
their hands over my particular ailment but I do have concerns
about patients being far away from friends and family at such
emotionally charged times.
I would like to wish everyone in the tourism and hospitality
industries a happy and prosperous season and I hope Visit Wales
starts to promote the Principality before Easter! U
