Photo Submitted Summer projects at NBJH aim to enhance safety, learning Interested individuals should send an email with a resume and any clips to jobs@22ndcenturymedia.com Staff Report Northbrook School District 28 spent the summer completing several interior and exterior projects, which intend to enhance the District’s learning spaces and overall safety of its school buildings. Much, but not all, of the work was done at Northbrook Junior High. According to Terry Ryan, the District’s communications coordinator, safety improvements at NBJH included two sets of new fire doors between the stairwell and the hallway on one end of the school and replacing the school’s emergency generator. New flexible furniture for the school’s library was also added. The new adjustable tables and chairs are on casters so they can be easily moved around to accommodate a variety of activities. The new furniture replaced older oak furniture, which did not lend itself to different arrangements. The cost of the library furniture was $19,029, which was mostly funded through a PTO donation, Ryan told The Tower. Other improvements at NBJH included a carpeting replacement in classrooms and hallways and the replacement of tile in the science rooms.
