Another Chance to Dance the Night Away
compiled by Jackie Wyant, Managing Editor
We know quite a few dads and their
daughters were looking forward to
attending our second hosting of the
Daddy-Daughter Dance (DDD) on November
11 th , 2017. Sadly, we had to cancel/postpone
the dance, as we simply didn’t have enough
people sign up to support the cost of
hosting the event. The following is a note
we received from Gregory Ptolemy, who had
planned on attending the 2017 DDD with his
two daughters:
"My daughters and I were anxious to
participate in the Daddy-Daughter Dance this
year, and so the girls got fancied up. When we
heard the event was cancelled, we decided to
make a night out of it anyway. Our outing was
likely not as elegant as the AmSoc party would
have been, but we went and had a nice dinner
and still made it an occasion. Hopefully there
will be more interest in the event for 2018;
regardless, I think we will make our ‘fancy
night’ a regular event in our household."
A Daddy-Daughter Dance strengthens the
bond between a father and his daughter,
creates lifelong memories and, perhaps most
importantly, teaches girls that they need to be
treated with kindness and respect by the men
in their lives. The AmSoc Board would love to
see this event happen in 2018. Any volunteers
ready to try again? Send an email to vp@
