Boasting 62 en-suite bedrooms, the home has
been finished to the most luxurious standards,
with extra-wide corridors, a variety of large
spacious and comfortable lounges and
rooms with kitchenette areas that help to promote
independence and social inclusion.
The home has been designed to meet the needs
of people who require nursing and
care. This exciting new development meets our
Kingsley care ethos, responding to individual
needs and providing the highest standards of care.
Like all Kingsley Healthcare Homes, our care is
focused around each person’s individual needs and
wishes. We value and respect how each person
chooses to spend their day.
Our strong ethos of person-centred care runs
through everything we do. Our staff are all highly
experienced and receive on-going training to make
sure that we deliver only the very best quality care.
Last month I attended a Garden Party at Whissonsett
with the Club’s Community and Vocational Officer
Amanda Foulkes held to promote LEEWAY - the
specialist domestic abuse Charity. LEEWAY supports
adults, children and young people who have or who
still are experiencing domestic abuse. It works in
Norfolk and Suffolk and has safe houses in Breckland
and West Norfolk. For further information, help,or
advice phone 0300 5610077 Whilst at the event our
Town Mayor. Colin Houghton told me of the Town
Council’s Project for remembering and marking
the 100th Anniversary of the end of WW1 - The
Swaffham Poppy Display. We hope that many people,
organisations and districts will embrace this idea and
make this year’s important Anniversary that more
special. Recently Councillor Ann Thorp asked the
Club to help with the sale of an evocative watercolour
painting by John Bailey showing Ghost figures of the
war surrounded by a beam of light and poppies - the
proceeds going to The British Legion Appeal. The Club
will carry out a Silent Auction at our forthcoming Art
Exhibition on 26th, 27th and 28th October, which
is the culminating part of our Visual Arts Festival.
Prior to that the painting will be displayed in the
shop window of Club Member Claire Dunne’s Ceres
Bookshop, part of her own contribution to the
Mayor’s Town Poppy scheme.
The plot for our play at Hamonds on the 16th
October has local interest - It’s 1982, The Falklands
War is on the Telly, Dexy’s Midnight Runners haunt
the airwaves and a 15 year old Norfolk Schoolgirl is
going off the rails - and vanishes ‘Into Thin Air’.
You will see more details of this month’s Visual Arts
Festival that I referred to in last month’s Column.
The film “Breathe”, Rebecca Louise Law, fEAST play,
Jane Hodgson’s talk on Art and the Art Exhibition. We
hope as many of you as possible will visit and enjoy
these Charity functions.
