Hi Everyone. From the Programme Editor The match day programme is settling a bit, now that I am back from holiday. I hope to keep it to at least 24 pages and as I have said before, intend to continue a printed copy for the foreseeable future, whilst also producing a flip book electronic copy after the match, that will be available from the fixtures page of the website. The flight out was “interesting” as with high winds and rain it was a bumpy flight, with plenty of turbulence, resulting in a zig zag journey along the runway at Guernsey! Mick Sayce swore blind that we aquaplaned part of the way! Some of the players enjoyed I hope that you enjoyed the streaming of the Guernsey match and sorry that you missed the first goal! Once again we were very well looked after in the Channel islands but it was a long day, as with no 10.00am flight on a Sunday we had to catch the 8.30, meaning a 5.00am start for some people (I left with Ken Medwyn and Tony Rickson at 5.30 from Rainham, so Ken and Tony had to leave even earlier, and I know that many of the team also had a 5.00am start. the journey back though, as there was a ladies netball team on board who seemed very friendly! pic above! Finally to end on a sad note, we are sorry to hear that Ernie Bateman has passed away at the age of 89. Ernie was born on the 5 April 1929 in Hemel Hempstead and played in the football league as a centre half for Watford. He joined the club from Hemel Hempstead in 1952 and made 52 league appearances in the 1955– 56 and 1956–57 seasons, before returning to non-league football, with Sittingbourne.
