The Secretary’s Jottings
Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to Woodstock.
Our visitors are local rivals, Ramsgate. Welcome to their Players, Officials and Supporters. And a
welcome also to today’s match officials.
We have something in common with Ramsgate already this season. That is, we both played Gosport
Borough in the Emirates FA Cup. After watching Ken Medwyn’s video of the match that we lost by
one goal to nil, if VAR had operated on the day it might well have been us that the Rams had played
in the second Qualifying Round. It showed clearly that Bola’s goal was a good one and the foul that
led to the penalty awarded to Gosport Borough looked outside the penalty area. With the amount of
money in the FA Cup this season, this proved costly to our club. Good luck to Ramsgate in the next
round when they play at Hemel Hempstead Town.
Both of today’s teams played on Tuesday night. We made the short trip to Ashford. Under very dim
floodlights we took the game to The Nuts and Bolts in the first half. Tommy Fagg scored a wonder
goal that sent us into the half time interval with a lead. Not unsurprisingly, with the long trip that was
made to Guernsey on Sunday, giving our team only one day’s rest, we flagged a little in the second
half. However, the defence stayed strong and restricted Ashford’s chances on goal. They did get an
equaliser though and a draw was probably a fair result from a game that showed great commitment
from both sides. Ramsgate featured in a high scoring match against Herne Bay who had not won yet
this season. Herne Bay went into a 10 minute lead through ex Brickie, Jake Embery. Ramsgate then
hit back with three goals to make it 3-1 after 37 mins. Jake Embery then pulled one back in the 53 rd
minute. When Tom Chapman scored a fourth for Ramsgate in the 60 th minute, making it 4-2 to the
home side, the Rams must have thought they were home and dry. It was another ex Brickie (there
are lots of them about), Ben Gorham, who made it 4-3 to put Ramsgate’s nerves on edge. Two goals
in the last ten minutes of the game, both scored by Jake Embery, completed the scoring to make it a
remarkable victory for Herne Bay.
As I mentioned above, we made our seasonal trip to Guernsey on Sunday. Because of the uncertainty
surrounding the game, (If we had beaten Gosport we would have been playing Ramsgate in the FA
Cup last Saturday), our supporters were unable to make travel arrangements to see the match. When
it was known that the game was going to go ahead, flight prices were prohibitive. For the first time in
the six season we have played in Guernsey we had virtually no away support. I was told that our
goals were treated to almost total silence. I was unable to go to the match but I understand that the
report on the Guernsey web site was “somewhat biased” and we controlled the majority of the game
and should have had more goals. Still, nice to have achieved our first win in the six visits.
It seems that Jersey are now keen to follow Guernsey’s example and enter England’s non-league
pyramid. There is a very good chance that they will join the Combined Counties League Division One
next season.
We are still in two cups. On Tuesday we visit old rivals, South Park, who are now in the Bostik South
Central Division. This match that kicks off at 7:45pm, is in the Velocity Trophy. South Park have not
started well in their new division, being second from bottom with three points from seven games.
Our president, Alan Crowshaw, has been in hospital recently but is now recovering at home. I’m sure
that you will all join with me in wishing him a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing him
again at Woodstock Park.
Next Tuesday, as I mentioned, above, we play our Velocity Trophy tie at South Park. Next Saturday
we visit newcomers, Haywards Heath Town. The following Saturday (13 th October) we make the
short trip to Faversham Town for our Buildbase FA Trophy match. Its not until Saturday 20 th October
that we are at home again when we play Phoenix Sport. JOHN

The flight out was “interesting” as with high
winds and rain it was a bumpy flight, with plenty
of turbulence, resulting in a zig zag journey
along the runway at Guernsey!

Once again
we were very
well looked
after in the Channel islands but it was a long
day, as with no 10.00am flight on a Sunday we
had to catch the 8.30, meaning a 5.00am start
for some people (I left with Ken Medwyn and
Tony Rickson at 5.30 from Rainham, so Ken
and Tony had to leave even earlier, and I know
that many of the team also had a 5.00am start.

netball team on board who seemed very friendly!

Finally to end on a sad note, we are sorry to
hear that Ernie Bateman has passed away at
the age of 89. Ernie was born on the 5 April
1929 in Hemel Hempstead and played in the
football league as a centre half for Watford. He
joined the club from Hemel Hempstead in 1952
and made 52 league appearances in the 1955–
56 and 1956–57 seasons, before returning to
non-league football, with Sittingbourne. We
send our deepest condolences to his family.

Ramsgate— A Brief History
Ramsgate has had senior football teams within
the town since the late-1800s, but despite the
paucity of reports in the local press there are
match reports for Ramsgate Athletic from 1895.
At this time matches were being played on a
number of grounds around the town, including
the Rams’ current home - Southwood.
Football in east Kent closed down during the
Great War, and in 1919 the Southwood ground
was provided for Ramsgate Town, by then
known simply as Ramsgate. In their first season
they finished 3 rd in the Kent League and
reached the Kent Senior Cup final, but lost 1-0
to Northfleet at Maidstone before a crowd of
10,000.
In 1924 Ramsgate Town folded and Ramsgate
Grenville moved to Southwood and, apart from
the appearance and demise a few years later of
Ramsgate Press Wanderers in 1932, became
the senior Ramsgate side until the 2 nd World
War again brought an end to all football in east
Kent.
Football resumed after the war and Southwood
was taken over by the current club in 1945, then
called Ramsgate Athletic, with the pitch being
turned through 90 degrees and covers to the
terraces and a stand erected from the antiinvasion
steelwork from nearby Pegwell Bay.
The Club played in the Kent League until it was
disbanded in 1959, and were runners-up in the
Kent Senior Shield in 1946/47, finalists in the
Kent Senior Cup in 1947/48, Kent League Cup
winners in 1948/49, followed by winning the
League and runners-up in the Kent Senior
Shield in 1949/50.
In the next golden period, from 1954 to 1957,
the Club won back-to-back League Championships
(1955/56 & 1956/57), with a new attendance
record being set in 1955/56 when 5,200
spectators watched the local derby against Margate.
They also made Club history when they
reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup
for the first time in November 1955, eventually
losing 5-3 at Watford, a record that stood for the
next 50 years.
In 1958/59 the Club also started playing in the
Thames & Medway Combination League, winning
the Eastern Division that season but finishing
runners-up to Sittingbourne in the Champions’
Cup Final.
With the demise of the KCFA Kent League in
1959, the Club joined the Southern League, as
well as continuing in the Thames & Medway
Combination.
A new main stand was erected along the southern
side of the pitch at Southwood, which is still
in use today, and in November 1959 the Rams
were visited by Everton to mark the official illumination
of the newly installed floodlights – the
‘Toffees’ winning 7-1.
In 1967/68 the Club again won the Kent Senior
Shield and were runners-up in the Southern
League Cup. In 1971/72 they finished runnersup
in the League and were promoted to the
Premier Division.
In 1972 the Club changed its name to Ramsgate
but after a decline in fortunes off the pitch
the Club were relegated to Division 1 and later
resigned from League in 1976, the 1 st team taking
the Reserves’ place in the new Kent League
and in 1988/89 won the Kent Senior Trophy for
the 2 nd consecutive year and finished runnersup
in the Kent League Cup, whilst in 1998/99
the Club was eligible for promotion to the Southern
League after winning the Kent Premier
League championship, but decided the time
was not right, and also won the Kent Senior
Trophy and reached the semi finals of the Kent
League Cup.
The 2004/2005 season saw the Club capitalise
on the promise of its successful youth and a
tough pre-season programme had the Rams
playing (and defeating) 4 sides from higher
leagues, including old adversaries Margate. In
competitive football the Rams made good progress
in the FA Cup, despatching Kingstonian
(2 leagues above) before falling in the 2 nd half to
Dulwich Hamlet (1 league higher), whilst in the
FA Vase they again reached the 3 rd Round
Proper.
The best form was saved for the domestic season,
where the Rams again did the double, the
Kent League Premier Division Cup as well as
the Kent League Championship by a clear margin,
gaining promotion to the Isthmian League
Division 1 South.

Summer 2005 saw the Rams start the new era with two further pieces of silverware, beating Herne
Bay in the Kent League Challenge Shield and Margate in the Kent Messenger Challenge Cup.
The season continued with the Club reaching the 1 st Round Proper of the FA Cup, the only Step 4
club in the country to do so that year and equalling the Club record set 50 years earlier.
The Club also won the League at the first attempt, securing back-to-back promotions to the Isthmian
Premier for 2006/2007.
For most of their 1 st season in the Premier Division the Rams were settled in the ‘play-off spots’
and spent several weeks in 2 nd place, but the toll on the squad was noticeable and injuries saw
their form dip in the last weeks and they eventually slipped to 9 th . This also meant a new record,
as the Club had only managed to stay in the Southern League Premier for a single season.
2007/08 saw the Rams set more club records, winning the Isthmian League Cup and also reaching
the play-offs for Conference South.
For 2008/09 the Club erected new covers to the terraces behind each goal, to replace those
erected after the war but removed in the 1970s, however having lost key players an average performance
on the pitch dipped in the last months with relegation to Division 1 South. This saw several
players leave to remain playing at the higher level, and a much younger Ramsgate team in
2009/10 avoided a further drop as some had predicted.
After returning to Division 1 the Rams usually finished near the play-offs until 2013/14 when, after
five managers in 14 months, the Rams ended up in 21st place. This saw the return of Jim and
Danny Ward for their 3rd spell in charge, almost 20 years since they first joined the Club, and
though they were in 2 nd place at Christmas the form dropped and the Rams ended up mid-table.
A good start in 2016/17 didn’t last and after slipping into the bottom quarter, with 1 point from 3
games over Christmas head coach Lloyd Blackman replaced the Wards. A 10-match unbeaten
run saw a mid-table finish reprieve, with Blackman confirmed as gaffer for 2017/18. A season of
mixed fortunes saw a lean patch after Christmas with some significant injuries saw the Rams sliding
in the table, but another strong finish lifted Ramsgate back towards mid-table.

Lloyd Blackman – Head Coach
34 year old Ashford-born former striker who went from an 8 year old with Crystal Palace to a
pro debut for Brentford against The Posh at 18. He was top scorer with a number of clubs as a
pro, including Crawley but more recently with Margate and Maidstone. In his late twenties decided
to move into coaching and study the game, picking up a 1st Class Honours Degree. Transitioned
to a player/coach with Hythe and Ashford, before a wholly coaching role with the Rams
in December 2015, before taking over the reins at Southwood from the Ward brothers in January
2017.
George Batney – 20 year old defender who can play in midfield as well. Started with Rainham
Kenilworth as an U18 before switching to Faversham, where he was part of their U21 Kent Intermediate
Cup finalist side in 2016/17, and last season progressed to the 1st team squad. Trying
his luck with the Rams this season, appearing for the 1 st team and also for the Reserves.
Matt Bone – 17 year old attacking goalkeeper who was born in Nottingham but grew up in Ashford,
playing for Kennington FC last season as a 16 year old before recently moving to the
Rams.
Tom Chapman - 24 year old striker, ‘Chappers’ was a regular in the Rams’ Under 18s in
2011/12 and, after scoring a hat-trick on his debut for the Reserves early in that season, has
been a mainstay in the 1st team squad ever since. Took a year off to go travelling round the
world last season but returned to the UK, and the Rams, for 2016/17.
George Crimmen – 26 year old central defender who has had spells with Sittingbourne and his
home team of Sheppey, joining the Rams from the former for 2016/17.
Charlie Dickens – 21 year old defender who played for Maidstone’s Under 18s until he signed
for the Rams in March 2014, making his 1 st team debut at 17 and also playing in 2014/15. Had
a spell at Deal before signing for Ashford in January 2016, winning Young Player of the Year.
Signed for Harlow Town in 2016/17 and was contracted for 2017/18, but requested a release in
December and returned to the Rams in January.
Liam Dickson – 29 year old defender who had an established place in the Folkestone line-up
from 2008 until 2013, when work relocation to the north enforced a departure from Invicta.
‘Dicko’ returned to Kent and then to Isthmian football with the Rams in December 2017, getting
on the score sheet and settling in as team captain.
Wes Hennessey – 17 year old right back with great promise, who has progressed through the
Rams’ youth system to the Academy and Reserves, as well as the fringe of the 1 st Team.
Sam Lawford – 19 year old striker/winger who was part of the Gillingham Development Squad
when he first joined the Rams on work experience in January 2017. Moved to Faversham at the
start of last season but returned to the Rams in March 2018 after a brief spell with home-town
club Canterbury City.
Kyron Lightfoot – 20 year old midfielder/winger who progressed from the Dover Academy to
Chatham U21s, before joining home-town side Faversham last season. Played against Ramsgate
for the Lilywhites in August 2017 before signing for Cray Wanderers in September, from
whom he joined the Rams in March.
Jake Mackenzie – 24 year old wing-back who moved to Ramsgate from Whitstable for
2015/16, where he had spent two seasons after being released by Gillingham. Represented
Kent at youth level having started his career with Charlton.
Ethan Madden - 17 year old defender from the Romney Marsh, who joined Folkestone Invicta
and was called into Invicta’s first team squad for the 2017/18 Bostik Premier League season,
making his senior debut at Dover Athletic in the Kent Senior Cup. Played against the Rams for
Invicta in the pre-season in July 2018, and impressed Lloyd Blackman.
Jacob Mensah – 18 year old central-defender who is a Ramsgate FC Academy graduate who
became a regular in the Development side at 16, and featured in the 1st team squad in the
2016 Thanet Cup final vs Margate. Made his 1st XI League debut at Greenwich in November
2016, and has remained part of the squad ever since.

Aaron Millbank – 23 year old Ramsgate-born striker who signed for Gillingham at 16, and appeared for
the Gills in the Kent Senior Cup in 2013/14, followed by an 8-goal loan with the Rams until recalled for
his League debut. Injury side-lined him for two years but fit again he re-joined the Rams for 2016/17,
scoring 25 goals. Missed the start of 2017/18 but was fully fit again by November.
Billy Munday – 19 year old attacking midfielder who progressed from the club’s youth section into the
Development Squad in 2016, as well as being part of the side that lifted the Kent FA Youth Cup. His 1st
team starting debut against Guernsey in October 2017 was followed by scoring in the following game at
Corinthian-Casuals.
Jake Munday - 21 year old midfielder who emerged from the Rams’ youth system becoming an Under
21s regular in 2016/17 and on the fringe of the 1st XI. Captain of the Development side he made his
senior debut at Tooting & Mitcham in September 2016, a game in which he also scored.
Jack Penny – 21 year old who graduated from the Rams’ youth system, and quickly became a regular
goal scorer and mainstay of the Under 21s, as well as breaking into the 1st team in 2015/16 making 15
competitive after the New Year. Became a 1st XI regular in 2016/17.
Rory Smith – 20 year old attacking midfielder from Sandwich who joined the Rams from Dover’s youth
system having also played for the Kent Representative side. Took a year off to go travelling in 2016/17,
but joined the Rams on his return last season, scoring on his debut.
Harry Stannard - 20 year old striker who graduated from the Gillingham academy to Hastings in 2016,
and quickly established himself as a goal scorer, which saw him move to Premier Division side Margate
in July 2017 where he continued to find the back of the net, with a short spell on loan at Faversham before
Christmas to keep match time up. Joins the Rams for 2018/19.
Luke Watkins – 29 year old ‘keeper who joined the Rams from Whitstable for 2015/16, having broken
into Town’s 1st team in 2014/15 after joining them from Rochester United. Has been the Rams’ 1st
choice stopper since.
Luke Wheatley - 27 year old defender who came on loan from Margate in 2009 and though recalled he
re-joined the Rams on a permanent basis 2 months before the end of that season. Side-lined in Oct
2012 through a broken leg, and returned fit the following season but suffered another break that September.
Returned to 1st team duty in Nov 2014 and has been made Club Captain this year.

Another Channel Island Team in the League?
Following on from Guernsey’s journey through the Combined Counties League to the Isthmian
it is now highly likely that the “bigger” channel island,” Jersey, may also begin that journey.
The man behind the project is Russell Le Feuvre who told the BBC that he hopes Jersey
Bulls will join the Combined Counties League in the very near future. Apparently talks have
already begun with that league.
Jersey does have a 13-team league over two divisions, and did try to register a Football association
in its own right, but that was dismissed by UEFA who told them that they must come
under the English FA.,
The most successful club in Jersey at the moment is St Paul’s who have dominated for the
past few seasons, however there is concern that a club in the English league system would
weaken the existing structure as the best players may be unavailable to the Island only clubs.
Having spoken often to the Guernsey chairman, Mark Le Tissier, brother of Matt, the Jersey
Bulls have a lot to do to make their dream a reality, including having deep pockets, as Sittingbourne’s
trip to Guernsey cost the Islanders £3,500 in Flight costs alone. Multiply that by
the numbers of Isthmian games a season then you get the phenomenal figure of over
£100,000 for travel costs alone.
So who knows, in two years we may have two channel Islands to visit—although surely we
will have been promoted by then????

Wow. What a win by Sittingbourne. Battling, hardworking
and determined, they became the first
team to beat Whyteleafe in ten league and cup
games this season.
Not only was it a super win, it was also an excellent
end-to-end game, well-contested and – dare
it say – well-refereed too!
Whyteleafe had won all four of their league
matches going into the game but obviously they
hadn’t come up against a team quite as organised
and passionate as Sittingbourne.
All the side played well and worked hard, but the
two young central defenders, Ben Fitchett and
Lex Allan, were outstanding – and brave, too
- up against some skilful and pacy attackers.
At the other end, Bola Dawodu and Tommie Fagg
thoroughly deserved their goals, 20-year-old
Fagg continuing to impress with his skills, goal
threat, and great work ethic.
Whyteleafe showed their attacking commitment
by unusually keeping three players up on the halfway
line when defending corners or free-kicks,
but they fell behind to a 12th minute goal. Izzy
Adebayo hit a beautifully weighted pass behind
the defence, and although Dawodu’s initial shot
was blocked he was alert enough to head home
the rebound. No wonder his face simply lit up at a
long overdue first goal of the season.
Trying to protect their 100 per cent record, Whyteleafe
battled to get back in the game but Sittingbourne’s
defence were terrific and behind
them, goalkeeper Patrick Lee has settled down to
proving what an excellent shot-stopper he is.
Sittingbourne attacked well, carving out far more
chances than in the disappointing home FA Cup
defeat the previous Saturday, Dawodu just missing
the target from close in and Adebayo and
Fagg having shots well saved.
The Sittingbourne players energetically pressed
very high to squeeze Whyteleafe out of their normal
passing game, giving away a fair number of
free-kicks in the process but doing a great job of
disrupting the opposition.
In fact, Whyteleafe’s protests at any perceived
infringement finally got too much for the referee
and he gave them a sort of public warning, shouting
at the whole team to tell them to let him get on
with his job.
Lee made a couple of good saves to protect Sittingbourne’s
slender lead as the game became
more stretched in the second half, and Whyteleafe
continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack.
Sittingbourne looked as if they’d put the game
beyond their Surrey visitors in the 77th minute
when Fagg latched on to a loose ball following
Lee’s free-kick, and dummied a defender before
placing an accurate low shot into the far corner to
make it 2-0.
Immediately, Whyteleafe brought it back to just
the one-goal deficit, with Armstrong striking a fine
shot from outside the area within seconds of coming
on as a substitute.
Not so long ago Sittingbourne were letting winning
positions like this slip in the dying minutes of
games, but this young side showed maturity and
determination not to let go of their winning position,
and Dan Parkinson was the closest from either
side to go nearest to adding a late goal, the
Whyteleafe keeper just scrambling away his close
-range effort.
This win was just the confidence boost Sittingbourne
needed after losing their last two
league games, and the points took them up to
eighth in the Bostik South East League. A long
way to go yet, obviously, but this was a super victory
against decent opponents and showed just
what they’re capable of doing.

Tom Loynes got a pair of tremendous goals to give
Sittingbourne their first win in Guernsey.
Make no mistake, winning at Guernsey is no easy
feat. The match comes in the middle of a 16-hour
round trip, made up of car, plane and minibus journeys,
with loads of waiting around in between.
The match preparation has to be spot on, and even
then there’s a 600-plus home crowd to try and quieten,
and all the time without any away support at
all as owing to uncertainty over FA cup dates fans
were priced out of the trip by the time it was known
that this fixture was definitely on. .
Luckily for Sittingbourne, manager Aslan Odev is
an expert at preparing his team properly, and he
was determined to make amends for last season
when he felt his team under-performed and let
down the fans who on that occasion had been able
to make the journey to the Channel Islands.
This is the sixth season since Guernsey arrived at
this level of football, and Odev at last steering a
team to victory makes him Sittingbourne’s most
successful manager ever in international football!
And it was quite a win, built around the qualities
that have made Sittingbourne successful this season
– hard work, good organisation, great team
spirit, and an ability to take their chances.
Although Guernsey – hospitable and generous as
ever off the pitch – moaned that it was a defensive
error that won the game for Sittingbourne, it was
nothing of the sort. It was just that Loynes thought
quicker and acted quicker to win the ball and finish
it off.
It was no more than Sittingbourne deserved, having
dominated the first half, and been much the
better side apart from a short spell around the time
of Guernsey’s goal in the second half.
With heavy morning rain at last subsiding, the
game kicked off in sunshine as a blustery wind
blew the last clouds away.
Sittingbourne were at it straightaway, pressing high
and preventing Guernsey play the sort of passing
game out from the back that they clearly prefer.
Within the first 10 minutes, Lewis Chambers blazed
a shot over, Bola Dawodu had his header from a
long throw saved, and Dan Parkinson got the ball
in the net but was ruled offside.
Guernsey were struggling to get into the game and
Sittingbourne went ahead midway through the first
half. Izzy Adebayo worked himself some space
near the corner flag, captain Chris Webber crossed
first time from his pass, and Loynes anticipated
beautifully, getting ahead of his marker to magnificently
deflect a firm header into the far corner.
For the first time I can remember in many years of
watching Sittingbourne, utter silence greeted it -
the only sound to be heard was Loynes screaming
his delight at what he’d done.
No Brickies fans had been able to make the trip as
by the time this Sunday fixture was cleared to be
played on an FA Cup weekend, only very expensive
flights – or none at all – were available. Bet
there was some cheering in the Woodstock clubhouse,
though, as the match was beamed back
there.
Patrick Lee made a lovely full-length save – one for
the camera, that – to keep the lead but generally it
was all Sittingbourne, and Tommie Fagg, Adebayo
and Loynes had shots which failed to properly test
the keeper.
Loynes blotted his copybook after an otherwise
terrific first half effort by shooting over after a good
move but generally it was a great 45 minutes’ work
by the Brickies.
And they carried on at the start of the second half
with two chances for Parkinson, who was now
playing further forward after Fagg had gone off with
a knee injury. A bit of a sickener for him. But Parkinson’s
first effort skidded across the face of goal,
and his second, after a great one-two with
Dawodu, was just inches wide.
As Guernsey at last began to get of a handle on
the game, Lex Allan was magnificent in defence for
Sittingbourne, but could do nothing to prevent the
home side’s 63rd minute equaliser. An excellent 25
-yard shot pinged back off the post, and, luckily for
Guernsey, came back at just the right place for
Fazakerley to stroke in with Lee still recovering
from a dive to keep out the initial effort.
But it was Sittingbourne who showed the extra energy
and determination to regain control of the
match – and go on and win it.
Loynes showed great anticipation to intercept a
passing move across the back four and nicked the
ball, ran forward, and confidently placed a beautiful
shot into the corner past the advancing keeper.
A fitting winning goal, welcomed by the whole of
the jubilant subs’ bench piling on to Loynes and a
squashed corner flag underneath the bundle.
Again Sittingbourne competently managed a narrow
lead to the end and it was Dawodu who went
closest to adding another goal, heading wide from
a good position.
A great day out, a long one but a good one, and a
great result to go with a flying visit to remember.

Meet The Sittingbourne Squad
Patrick Lee: Goalkeeper. Patrick "Patch" Lee is a
young goalkeeper and a product of the Soccer Elite
Football Academy. He signed for Tunbridge Wells
before moving on to Chatham Town for the start of
the 2016-17 season. In December 2016 he signed for
Ryman Premier side, Harlow Town. After leaving Harlow
he played for Margate until the end of last season.
Harry Brooks: Goalkeeper. Made a number of notable
performances last season and was particularly
outstanding against a strong Dover Athletic side in the
Kent Senior Cup. Harry played for Whitstable Town
previous to signing for the Brickies for the 2017-2018
season.
Chris Webber: Defender. Joined Sittingbourne from
Canterbury City at the beginning of last season. Has
also played for Billericay and Faversham Town. Made
captain for this season.
Fabrice Blewordah; Defender. Born in Ghana but of
Swedish nationality, Fabrice joined Sittingbourne in
February 2018. He has played in Sweden and when
he came to England he played for Lordswood and
Faversham Town.
Lex Allan: Defender. 6’ 7” Lex was spotted playing in
local football and offered a trial with Sittingbourne. It
soon became clear that he had great potential. This
potential has been spotted by a number of scouts and
Lex was invited to play in trial matches and he has
not looked out of place in the company of more experienced
players.
Reiss Crimmen: Defender. First played for Sittingbourne
three seasons ago. Returned to The Brickies
in March 2018, signed from Ramsgate. Renowned
for his long throw.
Ben Fitchett: Defender. Ben signed for Sittingbourne
from Margate at the beginning of September. He
came to prominence at Margate after playing a key
role in their development side winning their championship.
He joined Margate after impressing at SCEL Erith
Town. Made his Sittingbourne debut in a 2-0 Velocity
Trophy win in September 2018. He scored on
his debut.
Harrison Hatfull:Defender / Midfield. Second spell
with Sittingbourne. He originally joined us from Chatham
Town. He started last season with Herne Bay
before joining us in February 2018. Harrison had two
trials at Bolton last season.
Dan Parkinson: Midfield. Experienced player who
came through the Morecambe youth academy to sign
a one-year contract for the 2011–12 season for the
League two club. He then signed for Barrow of the
Conference North. He also played on loan at Colwyn
Bay and Vauxhall Motors before moving South and
playing for Maidstone United (alongside his brother
Jack) and Tonbridge Angels. Dan originally joined
Sittingbourne for the 2017-18 season but a knee injury
put him out for most of that season. Got back to full
fitness last season and is an important part of the
team.
Josh Dorling: Midfield. Josh joined Sittingbourne
from Maidstone United in February 2018 where he
played for their academy. Whilst with the Stones,
Josh had a week long trial with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Lewis Chambers: Midfield, Lewis is another to sign
for then new manager, Aslan, in March 2018. He impressed
right from his first game for the club. He has
played for Maidstone United youth. Another to have a
long throw.
Izzy Adebayo: Midfield. Previous club was Faversham
Town. Has also played for South Park and Tilbury.
Khalil (Keith) McFarlane: Midfield. Khalil’s last club
was Herne Bay. He has also played for Faversham
Town and Margate.
Dylan Riches: Midfield. Very talented youngster who
scored on his debut for the Brickies in April 2018
against Thamesmead Town. He progressed from Sittingbourne’s
successful Under 18 side.
Tom Loynes: Midfield/ Forward. Tom first played for
Sittingbourne in the 2012-13 season. In between
playing for us he has played at Ramsgate, Whitstable
Town and Sheppey United. Since returning to The
Brickies at the beginning of last season he has shown
that he has lost none of his skill and enthusiasm.
Kenny (Femi) Orenuga: Midfield/ Forward. Femi
joined Sittingbourne in September 2018 making his
debut in a Velocity trophy match against Phoenix
Sports. He previously played for Australian team,
Peninsula Strikers. He has also played in Sweden
and Norway.
Ira Jackson: Forward. Joined Sittingbourne at the
beginning of he 2018-19 season, another to make an
impressive debut against Horsham. Previous clubs
include Whitstable Town, Ramsgate. Dover Athletic,
Worthing, Leatherhead, Margate and Ramsgate.
Bola Dawodu: Forward. Joined Sittingbourne for the
first time at the beginning of last season. Previous to
that he played for Faversham Town and Whitstable
Town. Midway through last season he decided to rejoin
Faversham Town. All at the club were pleased
that he decided to sign for the Brickies again this season.
Johan Caney-Bryan: Forward. A 6’ 5” player who is
a product of the Soccer Elite academy. He scored two
goals in a friendly debut he made at the beginning of
this season against Bearsted. Played for University
College Of London where in one spell he scored 19
goals in 9 games.
Tommie Fagg: Forward. Another graduate from the
Soccer Elite Football Academy, and Ashford United.
The tall striker then signed Harlow Town in February
2016 to bolster the attack, making six appearances
for the Hawks in the Isthmian Premier Division. He
signed for the Brickies at the beginning of this season
Nathan Elder: Forward/Coach. Nathan signed for
The Brickies at the end of August 2018, coming on as
a substitute in the Kent Senior Cup tie at Tonbridge
Angels. Nathan is a very experienced player having
over 100 league appearances with Brighton & Hove
Albion, Brentford, Shrewsbury and Hereford United.
Locally he has played for Maidstone United,
Ebbsfleet, and Tonbridge Angels where he made 111
appearances and scored 50 goals.
