THE PUGLISE FAMILY
They were high school sweethearts whose paths first crossed in 1990 as teenage co-workers
in Southwick, Massachusetts. He lived in Granby, while she resided in West Suffield.
They both went to Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, which helped the high
school romance flourish, and they were married in 1997.
When Jeff and Joy Puglise chose a place to live as a married couple, they picked a town they were
quite familiar with: Granby. They moved to town in 1998.
“We knew we loved the area after growing up in it,” says Joy. “We wanted to live near family in a
small town with good schools and open spaces.”
Jeff and Joy met when they had part-time jobs at Ames Department Store in Southwick, at a site
that is now the home of an Ocean State Job Lot store.
Joy was born in Springfield. She was raised near Congamond Lake in West Suffield, graduating
from Suffield High School in 1992 and from Bentley in 1996 with a degree in accounting.
