FEATURE STORY
“We knew we loved the area
after growing up in it. We
wanted to live near family in a
small town with good schools
and open spaces.”
— Joy Puglise
and band camp, and both girls got their boating
licenses this year.
At this juncture, you may pause to take a
breath — since simply reading about these
schedules might have left you tuckered out. It’s
clear that multitalented youth have multilayered
calendars.
For his part, Jeff enjoys boating and fishing,
on lakes and on the ocean. The Puglise family
has a bass boat and they often cruise on Congamond
Lake in Southwick.
When it comes to football, Jeff follows the
road less traveled in this region, where the Patriots
reign supreme: He’s a Pittsburgh Steelers
fan — “he had to be different from all the other
New Englanders,” Joy quips.
Joy appreciates that the New Englanders who
reside in Granby are “generally kind and caring
for each other, which is not seen everywhere.”
In addition to the people, Ashley says, “I like
seeing the country scenery.”
Regarding constructive change in town, Joy
says, “We have solid schools but we need to still
strive for improvement. One opportunity might
be adding honors-level classes to the middle
school.”
Jeff offers, “I would change the traffic flow in
the center of town at rush hour.”
Thanks to a seamless part-time commute to
Southwick when they were teenagers, Jeff and
Joy are together in Granby today.
