Jeff was born in Hartford and was raised in
Granby, graduating from Granby Memorial
High School in 1991 and from Bentley in 1995
with a degree in business management.
“I enjoy the outdoors and seeing wildlife
around the area,” says Jeff, 45, regarding his appreciation
for Granby. “As a kid, I would grab a
fishing pole and ride my bike to Salmon Brook
or Lake Basile.”
Jeff is the store manager at the Tractor Supply
Co. in Middletown, while Joy took a job at
The Hartford Financial Services Group right
out of college and has been working in the
financial world ever since.
“I like the small-town environment, good
schools and being close to family,” Joy says of
Granby’s upside. “I also like that the town is not
too built up with retail.”
Jeff and Joy have two daughters: Ashley, 14,
a freshman at Granby Memorial High School,
and Lindsey, 11, a sixth-grader at Granby Memorial
Middle School.
The girls have participated together in a
cornucopia of extracurricular activities.
They have both been Bearcats Cheerleaders
for the past four years. Ashley now supports the
program as a junior coach, and she has moved
on to the Granby Memorial High School Cheer
& Spirit squad.
Both girls have taken numerous classes at
Nutmeg’s Dance and Theatre Co. in Southwick
for the past five years. “I can be seen carpooling
on a daily basis to Nutmeg’s Dance with lots of
other moms,” says Joy, 44, who enjoys taking
photographs at the girls’ events.
Ashley and Lindsey have also participated in
Girl Scouts since they were about 5 years old.
This past year Ashley completed her Girl Scouts
Silver Award — a 50-hour community service
project that helped seniors with technology.
“I held one-on-one classes for seniors at
Granby Public Library,” Ashley says. Part of
her project was fundraising for an iPad that she
donated to the library.
Meanwhile, Lindsey completed her Bronze
Award, which was a 20-hour community
service project “that helped younger students
at the Wells Road School Homework Club,” she
notes.
Joy volunteers for Girl Scouts as a co-leader
and “cookie mom” — she helps plan activities
and has taken the girls camping.
The activities list doesn’t stop there: Ashley
(flute) and Lindsey (alto saxophone) play for
their school bands, and Lindsey is part of the
jazz band.
Plus, Ashley has been horseback riding since
she was 4. She joined Angel Horses, the Environmentalist
Club, and the Adventure Club at
school.
Lindsey has been involved in Granby Youth
Lacrosse for the past five years, was part of
Wells Road School Drama Club for the last two
years, and has been on Student Council.
They have also participated in dance camp
