Kryzta & Fabio
VIVA EL AMOR!!
Besame Mucho
Nearly nine years later, their dictionary now a keepsake and
mere collection of inside jokes and sweet nothings, these
high school sweethearts remained enamored with one
another. Kryzta, now an Austin area Celebration Specialist
or wedding planner with Panache Event Group, remained
completely unsuspecting of her partner’s plans to propose—
plans Fabio explains were difficult to keep secret.
“Kryzta is involved in the event industry, weddings specifically,”
explained Fabio. “And she knows almost all the ways
people propose and has heard all the stories. Obviously,
I had to find a way to keep it original and make sure she
didn’t see it coming.”
Torn between a grand proposal and a quiet, intimate evening
they could enjoy together, Fabio was certain that the
night should feel special. After all, the question he’d wanted
to ask her had been 10 weeks in the making.
With a little help from his roommate, Fabio decided on a
romantic outing with lunch, music and gorgeous views
while sailing on the river in the heart of downtown Austin.
To keep her suspicions at bay, Fabio convinced Kryzta that
they needed a night out and that he’d found an online
discount on boat rides downtown. So after a small breakfast
and morning of preparation, Fabio took Kryzta out for what
would be her first and likely most memorable afternoon
of sailing.
With the sun shining and a quiet breeze blowing over the
water, the couple enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion
of the afternoon. Sharing wine, lunch, blissful conversation
and recalling memories from the past, they arrived at
a mid-point—the perfect opportunity for Fabio’s surprise.
As the music begins to fade and all the guests are long gone, a bride typically remembers a handful of special moments when
recalling the big day. Her walk down the aisle, the intimate first dance and her sparkler send-off, each an important piece from the day
that sometimes can go so quickly it often feels like a blur. But for Kryzta Rodriguez-Gomez, her romantic celebration of love is far more
than only a few moments etched in her memory.
“I didn’t really script how I was going to do it, I just wanted
the words to flow from the heart,” said Fabio. “So, I stood up
then got on one knee and asked her the best way it came
to me. It was in the likes of, ‘¿Te quieres casar conmigo?’”
A Language of Love
Kryzta first met Fabio Gomez through a mutual friend in 2006 while they both attended a local high school. Fabio had recently moved to
San Antonio from his home country of Colombia and spoke very little English. Kryzta, whose Spanish was equally limited, found Fabio’s
handsome smile charming and the chemistry between the pair was undeniable. Resourceful as they were, they quickly began using a
bilingual dictionary to communicate and a relationship soon blossomed.
