Applicants under the age of 18 (minors) who wish to apply<br />

for a marriage license must submit a completed “consent<br />

and authorization of parent or guardian for the marriage of<br />

a minor” form. The form for applicant’s parent or guardian<br />

who resides in Bexar Country is available in the Bexar Country<br />

Clerk’s Office. The form on the Country Clerk’s website is<br />

utilized when an applicants parent or guardian resides outside<br />

Bexar Country.<br />

6. The Country Clerk may not issue a marriage license if either<br />

applicant indicates that the applicant has been divorced<br />

within the last 30 days, unless: (A) the applicants were divorce<br />

from each other; or (B) the prohibition against remarriage<br />

is waived by the court (section 2.009 Texas Family<br />

Code.)<br />

7. If a marriage ceremony has not been conducted before the<br />

90th day after the date the license marriage was issue, the<br />

marriage license expires. (Section 2.202 Texas Family Code).<br />

Normally, a marriage ceremony may not take place during<br />

the 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of the<br />

marriage license.<br />

8. The 72 hour waiting period does not apply to an applicant<br />

who meets one of the following criteria:<br />
