For the second time this
season, Mother Nature
wreaked havoc on the New
Trier football team’s Friday
night plans on the gridiron.
Week 2 against Loyola saw
a weather delay of over an
hour that ended up in a Trevians
loss. Week 7’s game,
however, had quite the different
feel to it.
Despite having Friday,
Oct. 5’s game postponed to
Saturday morning, the Trevians
were still able to walk
away with an easy 42-7 win
over Niles North in Skokie.
The game officially went
into a weather delay at
8:23 p.m. on Friday, with
a minute, 50 seconds to
go to halftime and New
Trier winning 21-0. A little
more than 40 minutes later,
it was decided to push the
game to 10 a.m. on Saturday
morning for the safety
of everyone involved.
“It’s hard to come back
on a second day, but we
didn’t play exceptionally
well last night, so this was
kind of a nice fresh start for
us today,” New Trier coach
Brian Doll said. “We played
ok, but I felt today we came
out, dominated early and
made some plays early.”
“You just have to stay focused,”
New Trier’s Donovan
Perkins said.
The Trevians (6-1)
came out a little slow, not
really able to do much
against a Niles North team
that had given up at least
41 points in its last five
games.
It wasn’t until quarterback
Carson Ochsenhirt’s
three-yard run put the Trevians
up 7-0 with under 30
seconds to go in the first
period.
“We just didn’t play
well yesterday, but I think
