THANDAINJA To understand this we must share the story of Spider and Eddie. In 2014 Eddie, a youngster from Daveyton township, walked over 10 kilometers to find medical assistance for his beloved dog, Spider. Luckily for Eddie his path was destined to cross with Cheryl Gaw and the seeds of Thanda Inja, and all it could bring to communities in need of veterinary care, were sown. This was the start of the fairy tale. In the front garden of Eddie’s mother’s informal dwelling (with no access to electricity or ablutions) the Thanda Inja team began to offer community support and basic care to cats and dogs. Community upliftment and education for animal owners has always been a crucial part of the Thanda Inja offering, and with your help this commitment will continue and grow. — 9 —
