Commissioner
Michael Udine
(3rd District, Broward County)
September proved to be a
busy month full of events
and happenings around the
community. It’s great to meet so
many wonderful people and see
some familiar faces in District 3
and throughout Broward. Labor
Day weekend was a great time with family and friends even though
it was quite soggy. On September 11, I attended the FLL “Will Never
Forget” at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, and the Mobile 9/11 Memorial
Exhibit in Coral Springs commemorating the lives lost on that fateful
day. It is hard to believe that 17 years have passed.
During September and upcoming in October, we had and will have
some cool opportunities in the community to start and grow local
business. I was very excited to attend the Office of Economic and
Small Business Development’s New Venture Graduation. This was
the culmination of a 10-week, highly intensive business development
training course which is provided to local entrepreneurs free of
charge. If you would like more information about the New Venture
program and upcoming courses, contact my office for more
information.
Following up on OESBD’s great work with the New Venture program,
I invite you to join me on October 8 from 6 to 7:30pm at the
Northwest Regional Library for the “Get Your Piece of the Pie” free
information session. Broward County Government spends millions
of dollars county-wide on everything from event products, building
construction, office supplies, and beyond. This is your opportunity to
find out how to work with Broward County, and grow your business!
Last month, I was appointed to the Florida Association of Counties
Health and Safety Policy Committee. One of my first actions was
to request a policy statement be placed for consideration to ensure
counties state wide review and implement the recommendations of
the MSD Public Safety Commission when they are published.
Don’t forget to check out my latest vlog. Previous vlogs focused on
ways that the cities of District 3 and Broward County work together
to be #HurricaneReady. While you are at home preparing your
family’s hurricane plan, we are working hard behind the scenes to
make sure residents are ready before, during, and after a storm. As
part of our last vlog filming, we visited the Tamarac EOC to meet with
first responders about storm preparation.
Please remember we have office hours at the following locations
on the third Wednesday of every month: 10 to 11:30am at Coral
Springs City Hall, 9500 W. Sample Road and from 2:30 to 4pm at
Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88TH Avenue. Call 954-357-7003 to
schedule an appointment with a member of my staff. P
I am always available to discuss any issues or concerns.
I can be reached at MUdine@Broward.org or
954-357-7003. I encourage everyone to follow me on
social media as well, @MichaelUdine on Facebook,
