<strong>Wigan</strong> Women<br />

The <strong>Wigan</strong> Women’s Friendship Club’s events<br />

programme continues into the autumn and winter<br />

months.<br />

The group host weekly meetings with talks<br />

and workshops on a huge variety of subjects.<br />

Established in 1981, they always welcome new<br />

members to their meetings on every Thursday<br />

except the first of the month, held in Penson Street<br />

Community Centre off <strong>Wigan</strong> Lane at 1:30pm.<br />

<strong>November</strong>’s schedule is chock full of talks, including<br />

one on ‘Lancashire Women’ given by Nancy Rose on<br />

<strong>November</strong> 8th. The Friendship Club is also hosting<br />

its Christmas meal at the Oak Hotel this year. Other<br />

workshops include a singing performance by the<br />

Upholland U3A and flower demonstrations.<br />

A half-yearly subscription costs £4, with weekly<br />

subs of £3 per person. For more information,<br />

Embroiderers’ Guild<br />

Interested in embroidery and textiles? The Parbold<br />

Embroiderers’ Guild welcomes new members.<br />

The Guild enables local people to meet new,<br />

likeminded friends while learning new embroidery<br />

techniques and skills, as well as putting on regular<br />

exhibitions of their work. Meetings also include<br />

talks and demonstrations from some of the leading<br />

experts in the textile world.<br />

Sessions get hands-on, with workshops run by top<br />

names in the field of embroidery, and use different<br />

mediums to showcase the best in textiles.<br />

The group meets every second Saturday of the<br />

month at 2pm in Parbold Village Hall.<br />
