<strong>Modern</strong> Studios is the content production and<br />
distribution arm of <strong>MTG</strong>, enabling the <strong>Group</strong> to<br />
control and leverage the full broadcasting value<br />
chain by generating high quality entertainment<br />
programming for Viasat, as well as for other<br />
broadcasters. <strong>Modern</strong> Studios has continued to<br />
expand internationally despite the challenging<br />
market conditions and reduced spend by<br />
broadcasters on programming.<br />
Strix Television is one of the world’s leading<br />
reality TV production houses. The company<br />
produced a new record of 1,225 hours of<br />
television programming in <strong>2002</strong>, featuring<br />
a number of the year’s top-rating formats<br />
in each market. Strix also sold options<br />
and licenses to its 12 formats to leading<br />
broadcasters in over 28 territories around<br />
the world. Strix’s hit formats have now been<br />
optioned to over 40 countries worldwide.<br />
Expedition Robinson (based on the Survivor<br />
concept) was produced and co-produced for a<br />
total of nine countries in <strong>2002</strong> during a hectic<br />
15-week period of filming on 12 islands in<br />
Malaysia. The show has generated increased<br />
share of viewing in all countries and Russia’s<br />
largest TV channel ORT has now co-produced<br />
its second season of Survivor together with Strix<br />
Television. The Bar reality-TV format, which has<br />
already been broadcast in 12 countries,was<br />
aired in a further three European countries for<br />
the first time during <strong>2002</strong> and options were<br />
sold in a further 11 territories. The final episode<br />
of the series in Greece during the spring<br />
attracted a phenomenal average share of<br />
viewing of over 58%.
