in honour of the great South Africa Icon Nelson.
Mandela in Focus is a coffee table pictorial work
featuring the work of the former president’s private
photographer, Kevin Joseph with the text written by
journalist and commentator Farook Khan.
The book contains unseen photographs that have not
been viewed on the public sphere. The book highlights
Mandela as a “man of faith” as there is a huge collection
of photographs of him showing private family gatherings
with Mrs Gracia Mandela and Mrs Winnie Mandela.
The images contained in the book are a collector’s item
and are in huge demand by tertiary institutions and by
high profi le members of the state because of how depict
the private life of the former president and the unseen
moments that they have. Kevin Joseph had access and
permission to capture private moments of Mandela.
Many untold stories are in the book,
they are heart-felt photographs showing moments of
happiness and grief including images of the great icon’s
funeral.Farook Khan has followed the life of Mandela
dating back to the 60’s from his imprisonment up to his
release to liberation in the 90’s. The book is living proof
of the continuation of the late president’s legacy. Kevin
Joseph’s business agent and Activist was also present at
the book launch.
Nelson Mandela’s grandson Zondwa Mandela and his
wife were present at the launch. He said “I’m gonna tell
the truth and nothing but the truth. It’s very clear that
many African storytellers and photographers are very
proud of their African stories and sharing their African
perspective to the world. Africa’s youth and children
need to know that the story of Winnie Mandela and
Nelson Mandela lives in the beauty, intelligence and
determination we fi nd in all our young man and women
of today. The story of Winnie and Nelson Mandela has
been conventionalised. It’s up to us to make sure that the
story of Winnie and Mandela becomes a very indigenous
African story”.
AME Africa hosts Enterprise Development Graduation
SMME Staff Reporter
Bryn Wombell (General Manager at AME Africa), Thandiwe Zondi (SMME Graduate)
AME Africa Healthcare hosted the AME’s Enterprise Development
Graduation on 17 September 2018. The keynote speaker at the
event was Enterprise Development Programme Leader, Proffesor
Charles Dondo.
His address was mainly about lauding the new graduates and
also imparting his knowledge of the industry. Also in attendance
were influential people from within the AME family, namely;
General Manager, Bryn Woombell and HR Manager, Advocate
Gloria Khumalo.
Speaking at the event, Proffesor Charles Dondo urged the
graduates to believe in themselves and also strive to have things
they can call their own.
“The seed that AME Africa has planted in you is, training you
in entrepreneurship a majority of small businesses are started
by people who have no background in business at all, and you
need as a business person to know the eight enterprise functions
intimately and in detail this is the theoretical knowledge we have
imparted in you”
Dondo further said success is not about money, fame or
popularity rather about creating a legacy.
The most important message was along the lines of ‘If you can
believe it, you can live it’. This is the time now that your journey is
beginning. It is a transcition from theory to practical knowledge.
You need to invest time in whatever you do, you need to explore,
and you need.
“Being lazy is
disrespectful to
people around you, it
is also disrespectful
to God who gave you
the talent, and it is
also disrespectful to
yourself”
After all had been said
and done, the graduates
were presented with
their certificates.
