UP CLOSE WITH FLAMINGOS •
Ten months after it had flagged off its
well-received project, the Maharashtra
government’s Forest Department is back
with boat rides for spotting flamingos in the
Thane Creek between the 10 km stretch of
Airoli and Vashi mangroves. The pink beauties
can be spotted amongst the mangroves in an
hour-long boat ride. The initiative of boat rides
was started in February 2018. Thereafter the
activity was shut down during the monsoons.
Three boats are being commissioned this
month, one premium (carrying seven
people) and two passenger boats (each 24
passengers). The number of patrolling boats
has also been increased to two.
DUBAI FITNESS CHALLENGE KICKS OFF •
The much-awaited Dubai Fitness Challenge got off to
a roaring start on October 26, 2018 with an incredible
two days of fun activities, team and individual sports,
stage acts and a host of events to keep all of Dubai fully
energised and entertained. The 30-day city-wide fitness
movement targets one million participants to commit
to embracing a healthier and more active lifestyle. The
2018 signature Opening Weekend Carnival welcomed
participants to experience over 30 sports sessions, more
than 80 group classes and an action-packed calendar of
acts on stage.
A TREASURE CHEST OF CRAFTS •
Dastkar, a leading Indian craft NGO, and Delhi
Tourism, have come together to organize Dastkar
Delhi at Nature Bazaar, Andheria Modh, New Delhi.
Dastkar gives an insight into the rich treasure of
crafts that each Indian state offers and also attempts
to revive traditional crafts of India. It puts together
for sale a wide variety of handmade crafts by
organizing events like Nature Bazaar, Inside-Outside
Home Bazaar and The Grand Saree Fair. The fairs
see craftspeople and artisans from over 22 states
selling their works. Besides this, Dastkar also features
workshops and demonstrations by the artisans.
