“Come <strong>on</strong>, Papa,” said Christina,<br />

“you’re <strong>the</strong> cowboy pilot! You fly <strong>the</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Mystery</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Girl all over <strong>the</strong> world. You can’t be afraid<br />

of heights!”<br />

“Well, I’m in c<strong>on</strong>trol of <strong>the</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Mystery</str<strong>on</strong>g> Girl<br />

when I fly,” Papa explained. “This arch is<br />

entirely different!”<br />

Grant and Christina giggled at Papa’s<br />

anxious expressi<strong>on</strong>. It was funny, and rare, to<br />

see him nervous in his big cowboy hat and<br />

tough lea<strong>the</strong>r boots. Grant and Christina<br />

knew <strong>the</strong>ir grandparents well and often<br />

traveled with <strong>the</strong>m. Mimi was a children’s<br />

mystery book writer, and Papa flew her<br />

anywhere she needed to go in his red-andwhite<br />

plane, <strong>the</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Mystery</str<strong>on</strong>g> Girl.<br />

Suddenly, <strong>the</strong> tour guide chimed in<br />

<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> intercom. “Thank you for visiting<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gateway Arch, America’s Gateway to<br />

<strong>the</strong> West!”<br />

That was <strong>the</strong>ir cue to make room for<br />

<strong>the</strong> next group of eager tourists. Grant and<br />

Christina gladly made <strong>the</strong>ir way to <strong>the</strong> tram<br />

that would take <strong>the</strong>m <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> steep return ride<br />

to <strong>the</strong> ground.<br />
