Christina climbed into <strong>the</strong> wag<strong>on</strong> and<br />
clattered around <strong>the</strong> wooden plank bottom.<br />
She rubbed <strong>the</strong> rough canvas cover <strong>on</strong> top.<br />
She thought about living in <strong>the</strong> small wag<strong>on</strong><br />
for six m<strong>on</strong>ths. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> thought made her<br />
shudder. At least her trail ride would <strong>on</strong>ly last<br />
a few days!<br />
“Christina! Are you in <strong>the</strong>re?” Mimi<br />
called from around <strong>the</strong> corner. “We’re just<br />
going to start tossing stuff in!”<br />
Christina heard Papa say something<br />
like, “Wait! We have to organize…” but she<br />
was distracted. In <strong>the</strong> top corner of <strong>the</strong><br />
wag<strong>on</strong>, she saw a white thread hanging from<br />
<strong>the</strong> folds of <strong>the</strong> canvas. She slowly reached for<br />
it and tugged. A piece of paper fluttered to <strong>the</strong><br />
dusty floor.<br />
“Hey whatcha doin’ in here?” Grant<br />
asked, scrambling into <strong>the</strong> back of <strong>the</strong> wag<strong>on</strong>.<br />
“Good grief! You scared me half to<br />
death!” Christina exclaimed.<br />
“Sorry, but Mimi and Papa are arguing<br />
about how to pack <strong>the</strong> wag<strong>on</strong>, so I decided to<br />
come hang out with you.” Grant said. “OK, but<br />
