The Canynges Society, in association with the Festival of Ideas, invites you<br />

to a special event to be held in <strong>St</strong> <strong>Mary</strong> <strong>Redcliffe</strong> <strong>Church</strong> on<br />

Thursday 15 <strong>November</strong> <strong>2018</strong><br />

at 6.15 pm for 6.30 pm<br />

Bristol: a City of Hope<br />

7 - 7.20 pm Organ Duets<br />

7.20 - 8 pm Drinks at West End<br />

On the evening of Thursday 15 <strong>November</strong>, The Canynges Society is delighted<br />

to host an event where Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees will make a presentation on<br />

“A City of Hope”. The themes will include his vision for the City of Bristol, the<br />

relationship with faith and the role of <strong>St</strong> <strong>Mary</strong> <strong>Redcliffe</strong> within the city.<br />

Following the talk there will be an opportunity to listen to organ duets performed<br />

on the famous <strong>Redcliffe</strong> Organ by Andrew Kirk, Director of Music and Organist at<br />

<strong>St</strong> <strong>Mary</strong> <strong>Redcliffe</strong> and Alison Howell, Organist at <strong>St</strong> John the Baptist, Keynsham.<br />

Music will include pieces by Handel, Verdi and Brahms.<br />

The evening will end with drinks in the West End of church.<br />

There is no admission charge for this event. There will be an opportunity to make<br />

a donation to The Canynges Society at the end of the evening.<br />
