Five subjects in stolen
vehicle attempt to elude
police near Northbrook-
Deerfield border
The Deerfield Police
Department has five subjects
in custody after a
vehicle, believed to be stolen,
crashed into two other
vehicles on Lake Cook
Road near the Northbrook-
Deerfield border, according
to Thomas E. Keane,
deputy chief of the Deerfield
Police Department.
According to Keane, the
Kenosha Police Department
alerted towns along
Route 41 that it was tracking
a stolen vehicle that
was reportedly in the area.
The vehicle made its
way into Highland Park
when an officer saw it turn
onto Lake Cook and proceed
Westbound, according
to Keane. Per Keane,
the vehicle then turned
down a street near P.F.
Chang’s, turned around
and proceeded eastbound
on Lake Cook.

Winnetka Library Patio
Project to begin fall 2019
The newly-renovated
Winnetka Library is going
to expand to the great outdoors.
Library director Rebecca
Wolf, communications
and marketing director
Sarah Quish, library board
president Brian Johnson
and fellow trustees Jean-
Paul Ruiz-Funes, Kathleen
Reichert, Suzie Shoup and
Keta McCarthy rolled out
the welcome mat to the
public for three hours on
Nov. 7 at a reception previewing
the Winnetka Library
Patio Project that is
expected to begin in the
fall of 2019.
“About a year ago we
had a committee made
up of some community
members, the trustees
and our staff get involved
and starting talking about
our outdoor space,” Wolf
said. “At the time we also
were looking at our indoor
space for our $2.1 million
renovation. We talked
about the outdoor space
and decided to come back
to it after the renovation
was completed.”
The renovation was
completed and the library
reopened on June 23.
Then, the committee began
brainstorming about
the expansion outdoors.
