Describe your business.
We teach private swim lessons year-round. Our warm water (92
degrees) is perfect for little swimmers and adults. Lessons start as
early as four months old; no one is too young (or old) to learn how
to swim.
How are you involved with both the community and your
customer?
Sea Otter has been around for over 25 years, and we love serving
the community. It's fun to hire new staff members who learned to
swim here as a kid!
Why is your staff the best in the business?
Our instructors truly care about water safety and really want to help
little ones learn to swim, because it can make a difference. Drowning
is such a scary, real thing, and we want to prevent it from happening.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
The pool, of course! Or the gym. We love physical fitness.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Hearing stories from parents about how their child overcame a fear,
gained confidence, and learned to swim with us. It gives us all the
warm fuzzies when we know we made a difference in someone's life.
What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?
Chipotle and Farmhaus.
Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?
Anything sports-related. We love the 49ers! Our kids play soccer,
basketball, baseball…you name it.
And finally, customer service is…?
So important. We strive to treat our customers like family.
Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
I was starting college, trying to figure out what to study, and began
reading health books that spoke highly of Chinese medicine and
acupuncture. At the time, the Internet was just beginning; I did my
first web search and found there were traditional Chinese medicine
schools in California. The rest is history. I got all of my prerequisites
and at 21 was off to Five Branches University in Santa Cruz. I opened
my first practice at 25. Never in my my wildest dreams did I imagine
the success and growth over the years, but I feel incredibly grateful
for the opportunities afforded to me as a result. I’ve had my private
practice for 13 years now.
How are you involved with both the community and your
customer?
Our customers are the community, and we do our best to offer the
community the highest quality care we can.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
We recognize the importance of offering patients exceptional
customer service; also, our accessibility—we’re open seven days a
week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
What’s your biggest job perk?
Working hand-in-hand with each patient and doing my best to help
others through health and acupuncture.
What’s your favorite local event that you go to?
The local farmers’ markets.
What’s your favorite local business other than your own?
My family and I enjoy an occasional breakfast at Peg’s Glorified Ham
N Eggs.
And finally, customer service is…?
Extremely important. We pride ourselves on treating all of our
patients well.
