She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Catherine Wantz, Uncle Bob, Auntie Jean Sabonis, and father-in-law Conrad Migala. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Pastor Bryan; daughter, Rachel (Mickey) Cooper; son, Bryan Jr. (Nancy); daughter, Lyn Waleryszak; and grandchildren, Jeremy, Jillian and Diego Antonio. Born Dec. 13, 1956, she lived in Lynwood for 20 years. She was with Holy Spirit Ministries for 18 years as financial director. She was a waitress for many years and owned a restaurant in Orland Park. She also was a bartender and manager for Bullies Bar in Frankfort. Visitation and a funeral service were held at Vandenberg Funeral Home. Interment private. Elizabeth Anne Loher Elizabeth Anne Loher, 80, of Frankfort and formerly of Naperville, died Nov. 11 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice House. Elizabeth is survived by her loving family, husband Rudolph Loher; children Cecilia (Michael) Grimson, Brian (Robbin) Loher and Anita (Edward) Lube; grandchildren Samantha, Peter, Stephen, Sandra, Victoria, Sarah, Jen, Elise and Rheana; and great-grandchildren Kenzie, Cole Michaela and Austin. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys (Stone) Holt, and brothers Ruben and Raymond Holt. Elizabeth was a certified public accountant, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a former member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville. Family received friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in Frankfort from 4-8 p.m. Nov. 18. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 19, with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m., leaving for St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort for a 10 a.m. mass of Christian burial. frankfortstation.com life & arts the frankfort station | November 21, 2018 | 13 'Heavens to Betsy 2' to premiere at Emagine Nuria Mathog, Editor Frankfort director Robert Alaniz has long found inspiration for his work in his faith, and his latest film is no exception. The new movie is a sequel to Alaniz's 2017 film "Heavens to Betsy," the story of Betsy Simon, a woman whose prayers are all answered at the same time. Alaniz said the inspiration for a second film emerged after he entered a distribution deal with Pure Flix, a production and distribution company with a focus on faith-based and family-friendly films and TV shows, and worked with the company to re-cut the original ending of the first film. "At that point, I was talking with somebody form Pure Flix, the company, an executive, and he was very excited that we would change the ending, and he said to me, 'I don't know if you see this, but you now have a potential franchise.' And I said, 'How?' And he said, 'Well, Betsy could literally go on and have more adventures or more situations ... there could be more stories that you could tell, a Betsy 2, a Betsy 3, a Betsy 4.'" Many of the cast members from the original film will return to the sequel, including Karen Lesiewicz, who continues her role as Betsy, and Jim O'Heir, who reprises his role as Pastor John and is best known for his portrayal of Jerry Gergich in the NBC hit sitcom "Parks and Recreation." When Alaniz began brainstorming ideas for a second Betsy film, he knew he wanted to go in a different direction. "I didn't want to write a sequel where Betsy just does the same thing again," he said. "I mean, if you know the plot line of the first movie, God answers all of her prayers and puts her in an alternate reality ... I had to come up with something for Betsy 2, and I had to think, 'What in the world am I going to come up with?' Photos submitted puts her back." Ultimately, Alaniz found inspiration in the divisive sociopolitical environment that emerged on social media in the wake of the 2016 presidential election. In "Heavens to Betsy 2," Betsy writes a book about her experiences from the first film that ends up becoming wildly successful, leading her on a powerful journey centered on faith and conviction. "What bothers Betsy is it's being considered a fantasy, like it's 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'The Wizard of Oz,' and as time goes by, being a devout Christian, she feels bad, because it's the truth," Alaniz explained. "To her, it happened. So, she then gets the courage to go on a podcast and tell everybody it happened. This starts a whirlwind of events, with some people standing beside her and other people making fun of her." Eventually, Betsy encounters the film's antagonist, an "egotistical, self-centered" talk show host named Tandum Dackery. That role is played by actor Gary Gow, who has starred in many of Alaniz's films throughout the years. "When he takes people on his show, he just tears them apart," Alaniz said of Gow's character in the film. "He makes fun of them and makes them look like fools, and he becomes famous for that. His show gets all these big ratings because of that. So, when they hear about Betsy, this crazy woman who thinks she went to another universe and then God put her back, he thinks, 'This is great, let's get this nutball on the show.' And it leads to this big confrontation." "Heavens to Betsy 2" is Alaniz's ninth film. His career has taught him many lessons, but one of the most important things he's learned, he said, is that "you can't just call yourself a filmmaker." "There's so many people that make things on their phone or they make little things in their backyard with their friends," Alaniz said. "Everybody's doing it, but that doesn't make you a filmmaker. To be a filmmaker, you have to go the full spectrum, and you have to pay your dues. You have to make films that fail, you have to make films that succeed. You have to make films that people like, other than your mom, your dad your family and your friends." "Heavens to Betsy 2" is scheduled to premiere Nov. 29 at the Emagine theater in Frankfort. While the event was sold out as of Nov. 18, an encore premiere is scheduled for Dec. 6 at the same location, starting with a meet and greet with the director and cost at 6 p.m. in the theater lobby, an introduction to the film at 7 p.m., show time at 7:15 p.m. and an after party to follow.
