Just four years out of high
school, Hunter Walsh is already
a budding entrepreneur.
The 2014 Lincoln-Way
East alumna has spent the
past year running her own
business, Hunter Taylor Aesthetics,
which specializes in
providing beauty services to
the Frankfort community.
"I thought I wanted to go
to university with all my
friends, like everybody else,
but I always really loved doing
makeup and hair for everyone,
like my friends and
my mom and just people
who needed it done, just for
fun," Walsh said. "And I realized
that's really what I
wanted to be doing with my
time."
After leaving East, Walsh
attended Capri Beauty
School in New Lenox, graduating
at the top of her class
in 2016 and earning awards
for her work.
"Every so often they
would have these competitions
where you would either
have to style hair in a
simple updo, and there was
one where they had kind of
an avant-garde theme, so I
got to get very creative with
it and put my own twist on
things," she explained. "I
won first place in that, and
then the other one was just a
classic updo style, so I really
like to get creative with it.
That's really where I shine,
where I can kind of use my
own tools."
Walsh offers several types
of services at her business —
lash extensions, facial waxing
and brow tinting — as
well as makeup for special
occasions such as weddings
and high school dances. She
typically works five days a
week and sometimes Saturdays
as needed.

She described starting her
own business as "a huge
learning experience."
"For the first few months I
had to figure out what didn't
work and what people wanted
to see out of my work and
how to present my work to
people in a way where they
could ask me questions and
I was ready to give them an
answer," she said.

"I wanted to offer something
that was special to me
and kind of unique to the
area, and I know that Frankfort
didn't really offer a lot of
people who did lash extensions,"
Walsh said. "It's definitely
a growing business
right now, and I think just
offering it in Frankfort has
really helped me, because
it's something that a lot of
people haven't really heard
of before and are really intrigued
by it."
