Christmas Lights<br />

<strong>The</strong> Parish Council is taking over from local<br />

resident Joy Ayling, in organising the<br />

Christmas tree displays above the shops in<br />

the village<br />

centre. <strong>The</strong><br />

Parish Council<br />

would like to<br />

thank Joy for all<br />

her years of hard<br />

work in making<br />

the village look<br />

so festive for<br />

everyone to<br />

enjoy. <strong>The</strong> trees, along with the large<br />

village green tree, will be in place in the<br />

first week of <strong>Dec</strong>ember, in preparation for<br />

the Carols on the Green and Christmas<br />

Shopping event to be held on the<br />

afternoon and evening of 7th <strong>Dec</strong>ember.<br />

Free parking in the village in <strong>Dec</strong>ember<br />

<strong>The</strong> District Council are providing free<br />

parking on Saturday, 8th <strong>Dec</strong>ember 20<strong>18</strong><br />

to help promote Small Business Saturday<br />

which is a national campaign to promote<br />

local high streets and independent shops.<br />

In addition, there will be free parking at<br />

Sea Road the day before on Friday 7th<br />

<strong>Dec</strong>ember as part of the village Christmas<br />

Shopping Evening and Carol Service.<br />

Sea Road Toilets<br />

<strong>The</strong> Parish Council has been notified by<br />

the District Council that the refurbishment<br />

work to the Sea Road toilet block has been<br />

delayed for up to a year while a bat survey<br />

is conducted as part of the planning<br />

process for the site.<br />

White Horse Pub site<br />

<strong>The</strong> Parish Council has been notified that<br />

the current owners of the White Horse<br />

pub in Keyhaven Road are aiming to sell<br />

the site. <strong>The</strong> pub is registered as an Asset<br />

of Community Value and as such, if any<br />

Community Interest Group would like to<br />

make a bid for this asset they have until<br />

17th <strong>Dec</strong>ember to do so. Anyone<br />

interested in being involved should<br />

contact the parish Office as soon as<br />

possible.<br />

Memorial Benches available<br />

<strong>The</strong> Parish Council has identified a number<br />

of pre-sponsored Memorial Benches at<br />

various locations around the village which<br />

are now available to new sponsors. Prices<br />

include a 20 year insurance and<br />

maintenance contract which would<br />

involve a full refurbishment of the bench,<br />

along with a new plaque to sit alongside<br />

the original plaque. In addition, there are<br />

a number of new benches available at the<br />

children’s seafront playpark for<br />

sponsorship. For more details contact the<br />

parish office.<br />

<strong>Village</strong> Directory updated<br />

<strong>The</strong> Parish Council would like to thank<br />

Jenny Whitley and Ruth Bufton for their<br />

efforts in collating the new village<br />
