“At Christ Church Cathedral School,
in Oxford, we complement and
enrich the children’s learning
through classes in our Woodland
School. Set in the heart of Christ
Church Meadow, this is the ideal
place to use the relaxing effects of
learning in nature to help children
develop self-esteem, confidence,
and independence. The boys in
Form 1and Reception recently
looked at different types of autumn
leaves and made woodland power
bracelets. It was all so much fun,
especially with the help of our
beloved School dogs, Thistle and
Gordon, who were more than happy
to help the boys dig around in the
undergrowth.”
Achoristership in New College
and amusical education for life
Each September four or five seven-year-old boys start as choristers in
New College Choir, and begin an extraordinary musical and educational
journey. Six years later they leave as expert musicians. They sing in concerts
across the world record CDS, and take part in choral services in Oxford’s
grandest medieval chapel. Parents often ask how an ‘ordinary’ small boy
is transformed into amusician of professional standard while still being a
‘normal’ school boy! The answer is in the New Colleges specialist music
programme developed by the choir director. Robert Quinney, with choir and
school staff. Choristers learn exceptional musical skills but also the fun and
challenges of being ateam player, as well as commitment and focus which
enhances every aspect of their lives.
For all information about being achorister please see ‘Choristerships’ on
www.newcollegechoir.com or contact the Chapel &Choir Administrator:
Chandlings School
How would your children like to ride apony to start the day? Or go pond
dipping to see nature close-up, practice in the ballet studio, visit the
vegetable garden to learn about where food comes from?
At Chandlings Prep School, you don’t just learn in the classroom. Learning
happens everywhere.
Chandlings educate boys and girls aged 2-11 within 60 acres of beautiful
grounds; located in idyllic Oxfordshire countryside, yet just five miles from
