slim pickings in the goal-scoring department during the early stages of its<br />
<strong>2018</strong>/19 A-League campaign.<br />

striker that can make a habit<br />
of finding the back of the<br />
net - preferably on board<br />
with the Sky Blues in times<br />
for the start of his side’s<br />
Asian Champions League<br />

Sydney FC’s early unbeaten<br />
run came to a grinding<br />
halt on the weekend when<br />
its “Mexican” rivals Melbourne<br />
Victory, took out the<br />
first ‘Big Blue’ of the season<br />
2-1.<br />
On a positive note - a<br />
sell-out bumper crowd of<br />

temporary home ground,<br />

Corica conceded<br />
his side needed to threaten<br />

threatened more. I think we<br />
threatened a lot more than<br />

a replacement for Trent Buhagiar,<br />

first-team contention during<br />
the pre-season but tragically<br />
fell victim to an ACL injury<br />
on the eve of round one.<br />
Buhagiar led the team’s<br />
goalscoring tally during the<br />
FFA Cup, while star import<br />
Siem de Jong has also had<br />
to settle for an extended<br />
stint on the sideline due to<br />
a hamstring injuryalso remains<br />
sidelined with a hamstring<br />
injury.<br />
“We’ve got a little bit of<br />
time before January, but<br />
we’ve already started looking<br />
and there’s a few options<br />
at the moment,” Corica<br />
said.<br />
“Buhagiar… was a big<br />
threat with his pace. If we<br />
can find someone like that,<br />
that’d be great,” Corica<br />
said, refusing to make excuses<br />
for his team’s second<br />
straight loss to their arch<br />
rivals.<br />
And he insisted Jop Van<br />
Der Linden would learn<br />
from the “brainsnap” that<br />
resulted in the penalty that<br />
ultimately eventual gamewinner.<br />
<strong>The</strong> pressure will be on<br />
the Sky Blues to get back<br />
into winning mode when it<br />
travels up the F3 for Saturday’s<br />
